A few months after the death of Dr. Dre, he submitted a new declaration in his divorce case in November 2021. According to The Blast, he revealed a text message he sent to his ex-wife, Nicole Young, in August 2020, asserting:

“After I found out Nicole had filed for divorce, I told her that I wanted to keep our divorce ‘classy and fair’ and I didn’t want to turn it into an expensive fight. My last text to Nicole in early August 2020 ended with me saying, ‘Let’s make sure it’s warm and peaceful. Over and over again. I love you.'”

With the goal of settling the divorce without any drama on his mind, Dre expressed a strong desire to move on with his life, end the divorce proceedings, and ease the financial burden associated with the legal process.

The “No Diggity” performer also emphasized his commitment to reaching a settlement and urged the court to schedule another mediation session immediately.

By December 2021, Dre agreed to compensate Young with $100 million, including an upfront payment of $50 million, with the remainder scheduled for production in 2022.

Despite the huge net worth of the “Straight Outta Compton” star, The Blast reports that Young did not receive half of these assets because she originally signed a prenuptial agreement.

In addition to not being eligible for spousal support, the former lawyer is also responsible for covering his legal expenses, amounting to several million dollars.
