Music producer Dr. Luke is moving forward with his defamation suit against Kesha and fans are not impressed with the “predatory” allegations.

The producer is suing the singer for defamation alleging that he made damaging claims against her in an effort to “get a better contract”. The trial date has been set for the summer of 2023, July to be exact.
In 2014, the singer went to rehab for bulimia and worked on her mental health which led her to reveal that Dr. Luke had attacked him several times. Specifically, in her court filing, she accused him of sexual assault and battery, sexual harassment, gender-based violence, emotional abuse and violations of business practices in California.
The two worked together for over a decade so obviously, there were some hurt feelings involved. However, Kesha has a very supportive fan base and they have taken to Twitter to blast the producer for how he treated Kesha and how he continues to treat her.

Fans of the “Don’t Stop” singer, as her animals are affectionately called are surprised that Dr. Luck is still trying to sue the singer, they are also shocked by the astronomical amount, and finally, they are disgusted to learn that the singer is still under contract with her accused abuser.
“This is the new normal,” insisted the Twitter user. “Abusers drag their victims through the court system to continue their abuse. While a bunch of shameless idiots cheered and made them their entertainment. #FreeKesha.”

Another fan of the singer has already cursed the producer. “You know he’s an abuser because 10 years later he still hasn’t released her from her recording contract #freekesha.”
Others remind anyone who will listen that Dr. Luke is no victim.

The singer was shocked by his horrific contract and the alleged abuse he suffered at the hands of Dr. Luke until he had to put future music on hold and couldn’t perform the songs he wanted.
The singer took to social media at one point to claim that a release from her contract was being negotiated as long as she retracted the sexual assault allegations against Dr Luke and apologized for lying, something she clearly denied.

By 2016, the singer’s sexual assault allegations were thrown out by the judge of the case, Judge Shirley Kornreich who also ruled that Kesha was released from her contract because she did not see anything wrong with it and referred to it as a standard contract and according to Dr. Luke, consult a lot.
Why is Kesha Accused of Defamation?

Considering the singer’s own assault charges against Dr. Luke was banished why is he suing him for defamation? Well, the singer sent a text to Lady Gaga in 2016 telling the “Bad Romance” singer that Dr. Luke had sexually assaulted her.
He also claimed that he sexually assaulted other artists and then named some such as Katy Perry. The judge ordered LG to submit the unredacted text as evidence and fired Perry who claimed he was never assaulted by Dr. Luke and never told Kesha either.

Artists have chosen to make up their own minds about Dr. Luke including Doja Cat who continues to work with him but never publicly defends him.
Meanwhile, Kesha is still releasing music under Kemosabe records, owned by Dr Luke. This might be a contractually mandated situation and he’s just trying to work through it.
