Drake’s return to the Apollo Theater on Sunday was marred by an accident involving a fan as the rapper was set to entertain the audience with his friend 21 Savage, per Insider.

The “Jumbotron Shit Poppin” singer had been on stage for about an hour and a half when the fan fell from the second floor into the orchestra pit.

Apparently crew members were alerted to the fan’s downfall, as someone quickly rushed to the stage to speak to the rapper. Shortly after the conversation, Drake stopped the concert and told fans, “Just gotta make sure somebody’s OK.”

The arena lights were then turned on as security officials moved quickly to locate the fallen and provide medical treatment. In the meantime, it is still unclear whether the fan pushed by mistake or if there was foul play in his fall.

Although it took almost a quarter of an hour, an update was given on the individual’s condition.

“Everyone is really OK,” a voice said over the loudspeaker, per Insider. “They are being checked. No one was hurt. But I’ve got even better news for you: We’re at the Apollo, so the show must go on.”

Following the announcement, Drake and 21 Savage took the stage to begin their performance in full, singing several songs from their 2022 joint music project, “Her Loss.”

At one point during the concert, Drake expressed his relief that the incident did not result in loss of life. He said, “Let’s make a little noise that everyone is fine, I think they have to wait like 10 minutes, we have to go up a little more.”

The singer reflects on how she has grown to embrace stage performances, all thanks to the high energy of her fans every time she performs.

He added, “But it’s nights like this that tell me I have the greatest job in the world, and I feel like you, once again, give me the confidence to know after all these years, after all the words we’ve heard . . , after all the doors slamming in our faces, it was this exact group that told me I was where I needed to be to be king.”

Sunday’s performance marks the end of its two-day run at the venue, which was held after several postponements. Drake rescheduled a concert in November following the death of musician Takeoff. He later pulled out of the show in December due to some logistical issues before it finally took place last weekend.

Some of the celebrities in attendance during the 2-day event included Odell Beckham Jr., Richie Akiva, Michael Rubin, Will Makris, Justin and Hailey Bieber, A$AP Ferg, Kevin Durant and Ice Spice.

The rapper also teased that fans should expect new music during a short monologue as he thrilled fans on Saturday.

“I’ve been thinking about a lot of things in life, but right now, none of those things stop making music for you, so I’ll be here for you for a little while at least,” Drake said, per USA Today. “I wish I could express more emotions for you – maybe this year, I might get bored and make another one, who knows?”
