Dramatic video captures the moment two survivors of a deadly police helicopter crash in Florida climb out of the wreckage and onto a roof as smoke billows behind them.
Footage in Pompano Beach showed rescue workers propping up ladders on the side of the building as pilot Daron Roche, 37, and firefighter paramedic Mikael Chaguaceda, 31, appeared on the roof and climbed down.
“Congratulation friend! God love you, man!” a woman can be heard screaming in the clip, which was recorded by viewer Jared Liverpool and obtained by CBS Miami. “Wow! We saw that thing in the air!”
Liverpool exclaimed: “That—surprised me!”
Two people died in Monday morning’s disaster – Broward County Sheriff’s Office fire Capt. Terryson Jackson, 50, who was trapped in the burning helicopter, and a female bystander.
The Airbus EC-135-T1 plane carrying Jackson and two crew members was on its way to make a call in North Lauderdale when it went down. Four others were seriously injured, officials said.

“My heart is beating fast, many things are happening at the moment. I just feel a lot of emotions. I was scared, nervous,” Liverpool told CBS Miami.
“Surprisingly, the two men in their uniforms did not look like they had any injuries on them. One of them said that their ribs might be broken, but they looked fine,” he said.
“They struggled a bit to climb the roof but they came down, a police officer asked them if they were okay, if they needed any help. They were taken to hospital in good condition,” added Liverpool.

The neighbor said he was thankful the helicopter didn’t hit his home.
“I live at Pompano Beach Airpark and I’m used to planes flying very low. I have never seen anything like this before,” he told the news channel.
The helicopter crashed into the building at about 8:45 a.m. in the area of North Dixie Highway and Atlantic Boulevard south of the Airpark, known for its Goodyear Blimp base.

Jackson “represents what it means to be a brother, a firefighter, he died doing what he loved,” BSO Sheriff Gregory Tony said of the 19-year veteran.
Resident Quiana Carter said her two brothers, Lorenzo Snell and Terran Vandevier, were inside the building when the helicopter crashed.

“They woke up, one was sleeping and one was getting ready for work and heard the commotion,” he told CBS Miami.
“Things were falling on him, and as he was trying to get to my other brother somehow, he managed to get out the window and get to the other side of the parking lot and that’s when the plane exploded,” Carter said.

Snell tried to rescue the trapped doctor, he told the outlet.
“He said that the helicopter was there, the propeller was there, and he couldn’t get it,” Carter said after visiting his brother at Broward Health North in Pompano Beach.
The cause of the crash is being investigated by state and federal authorities.
