A newly released video shows the moment members of an Israeli naval unit shot dead Hamas terrorists who tried to infiltrate the country by sea on the morning of the attack.
The dramatic footage captured sailors from the Snapir unit aboard a Defender-class ship firing machine guns and lobbing depth charges at the terrorists after their speedboat was sunk by a Dvora-class patrol boat, The Times of Israel reported.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said the terrorists tried to swim towards the Israeli coast.
“The Snapir fighter opened fire on the terrorists, in the midst of a naval pursuit. Fighters foiled some terrorists at sea, and from there they continued foiling terrorists when they reached the shore,” the IDF said.
Snapir is a port security unit that is part of a patrol squadron stationed at Navy bases in nearby Ashdod, Haifa in the north and Eilat in the south, the outlet said.

The Israeli navy’s elite commando unit Shayetet 13 also took part in the fight against terrorist invaders by recapturing the Sufa IDF post along the Gaza border.
More than 1,400 Israelis have been killed, most of them civilians, since the October 7 attacks, officials said. At least 199 others, including children, were captured by Hamas and taken to Gaza.
