Dramatic video shows a plane with 185 people on board skidding across an icy runway and onto muddy grass before turning back onto the runway.
An Avion Express Airbus A320-200 plane landed at Vilnius Airport in Lithuania after a flight from Italy on Saturday when it performed what is known as a “runway trip,” The Aviation Herald reported.
Flight X9-8242, carrying 179 passengers and six crew members, skidded off the runway onto soft ground, skidding across a runway. It eventually returned to the center line of the runway, where it was seen covered in mud.
Crazy footage of the incident is shared on X by @AFlyGuyTravels, which posts content about the airline industry. VASAviation also broadcasts exchanges between air traffic controllers and pilots.
“I see you’re going off the rails,” the guard told him in Lithuanian.
“Indeed, indeed,” replied the pilot, somewhat sarcastically, after not first advising the tower of the accident.
