Barrymore, who co-parents two daughters, Olive, 10 and Frankie, 8, and Hudson who co-parents Ryder, 18, with ex-husband Chris Robinson, Bingham, 11, with ex Matt Bellamy, and Rani Rose, 4 , with fiancé Danny Fujikawa, discusses their past relationship and why they should be able to “champion our exes.”

“I think love changes shape. You don’t just stop loving someone. Even in the worst case scenario,” Hudson said. “Even in a relationship that can go south, I believe there is always a way back to find a place where you can have compassion and still feel that love, just differently.”

“We should champion our ex. Like, we should be able to, you don’t have to be best friends, especially if they have new people in their lives,” Barrymore said. She went on to discuss her co-parenting situation. “I’m co-parenting with someone, and even though we may not be married yet, even he married to his beautiful new wife, Allie, our amazing stepmom, we are engaged every day and our relationship has never been better. It’s a different dream.”

On a recent “Chicks in the Office” podcast, she talked about her life as a mom and the balance she tries to have. She explains her old crazy life of partying has now been replaced by visits to Home Goods and takeout.

“The girls really wanted a McDonalds last night, they haven’t had one in a while. I order it too often,” he said. “All the parents who have it all together, and they have hygiene and nutrition and schedules and boundaries, God bless you. I didn’t know any of that when I had my kids. I had no plan of action and I felt like so much of a failure. I feel so overwhelmed and like I don’t know what I’m doing, and I don’t know what I’m doing. I have to learn on the job.”

Barrymore goes on to explain how things have changed in her parenting over time. “I was very unforgiving of myself when my kids were little and now they’re almost 9 and Olive is like 10, it’s turned into something very different,” she said. “And I had the best time. I have learned boundaries.”
