Drew Barrymore is one of us!
The actress and talk show host is tired of dating apps and recently shared a story that too many people can relate to.
Drew Barrymore Spills The Tea On Her Relative Dating App Experience

Ask any single person who uses a dating app and they’ll probably tell you it’s no fun. Our guess is that Barrymore will say much the same after she revealed her recent experience briefly talking to a man on a dating app.
“This is a story. Ready for this one?” Barrymore recently said on an episode of “The Drew Barrymore Show.” “So this guy on my dating app said he was the quarterback for the Los Angeles Rams.”
Barrymore continues her story by explaining that she wrote this guy a letter explaining how she went to their first practice game and said it was “so frustrating being a girl from Los Angeles who loves soccer” but doesn’t have any teams and then moves to New York and now there are two teams.
Then he dropped a bombshell that people are used to encountering on dating apps – an outright lie.
“He’s not the quarterback for the LA Rams,” he said. “He’s a musician who thinks he’s cute.”
When Barrymore asked co-host Ross Matthews how she felt about such deception, she replied, “You should feel lied to, robbed.”
“And then the guy was like, ‘Hey, Drewski,'” he continued. “And I was like, ‘I hate you. You’re smart, you’re deceitful, you’re playful, you’ve made me feel stupid. I don’t know who you are. I feel so stupid. Why do we have to go down on this foot? I hate you.'”
The Struggle Is True For Many!

Barrymore shared clips from her dating app chats on Instagram and TikTok and the comment section more than proves that Barrymore is very relatable and too many people can relate to her dating app struggles.
“And this is why I’m single,” wrote one person in the comments section on TikTok. “I feel very validated. Dating at our age (I’m dating, well, come to think of it, after a recent divorce) is so hard!!!” said another.
Another viewer added, “Welcome to my world. That’s why I’ve been out of the dating scene now for 3 years and am happy.”
Many others left comments about how terrible dating is now, that no one is safe from the online dating craze, including Barrymore, and other comments about Barrymore’s relatable story.

On Instagram, the vibe is the same.
“When Drew can’t meet the regular guy, we know it’s really the end,” wrote one. Another added, “Lmoooo. Dating in 2024. Technology has ruined it!!!”
Do We All Collectively Think Dating Apps Are Sick?

Everyone I talk to about dating apps or dating in general seems to agree – it’s the WORST. I’ve been on and off dating apps for a few years and about a year ago decided not to anymore.
Barrymore said, “Every time I go there, it doesn’t feel great. I always last five days,” and I can relate to that with every fiber of my being. Unpleasant feeling. It makes you question in ways you never thought possible. And I’m with Barrymore, I never lasted there too long before I thought it wasn’t worth it and deleted it.
The swiping culture is completely changing the way people date, as well as the way people treat relationships. In a world filled with instant gratification, the mentality of many has shifted to only wanting to find the here and now instead of something meaningful and long-term.
What I find to be the biggest issue on dating apps is overall communication. It’s frustrating to be matched with someone and the conversation starts with just “Hey” or “What’s up?” and never grew out of it. Or there are times when you match with someone and a conversation never happens.
My favorite is when you use the app and then delete it and then six months later come back to it and all the same people are still there just lingering. And then there are the people you talked to six months ago and have nothing to do with swiping at you again like they don’t remember talking to you.
If you think you’re alone in this, head over to TikTok and search for dating app videos. You probably don’t need to do an actual search because there are so many just floating around everyone’s FYP feed.
