It looks like Sam Asghari has teamed up with PETA ahead of the holiday season, even though they were quick to label Britney Spears “toxic” for buying a new puppy earlier this year.
The 42-year-old pop star Instagrammed her new pup, Snow, in late August, less than two weeks after the 29-year-old actress filed for divorce on Aug. 16, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split. in court documents obtained by The Blast.

Sam has made it clear that she loves animals from her Instagram Stories, which often include trips with her Doberman, Porsha. The puppy was originally given as a gift to Britney Spears a month after they got engaged in September 2021; however, Sam had to keep the dog in a custody agreement that the ex-couple had settled months ago.
The “Gimme More” singer got to keep their four other dogs, including an Australian Shepherd puppy named Sawyer that she adopted in Maui in February 2022, just months before the former couple tied the knot in June 2022. She also got her Yorkie, Hannah , his Maltese, Lulu, and another small dog, which may refer to Snow.
On Tuesday night, PETA released an ad featuring Sam hugging a puppy in an orange shirt that says “Adopt, Don’t Shop” on the front. The text above the ad reads, “Some Like Last: Never Buy a Dog. Always Spay or Neuter.” The next slide shows Sam lying shirtless next to a dog. The text on this ad reads, “You can’t buy love, but you can practice it.”
“You can’t buy love! Lucky enough, actor @samasghari showed the world that millions of dogs & cats are looking for adoption to loving forever homes,” the brand wrote in the caption, praising photographer Charlie Nunn and creative director Greg Garry for their work.
“Why is he trying to trap me into taking a puppy?” one fan complained. “Did it work!?” Sam answered. “Why are you complaining? @samasghari thirst trap,” another follower chimed in.
“Did he buy or take his Dobie?” asked another fan, referring to Porsha. “Lol, he and his ex-wife literally bought all those dogs,” wrote another follower. “I think so! But don’t want to think so asking @peta because they chose him as their spokesperson!” replied the fan.
Not All Fans Accept Sam’s Partnership With PETA
PETA shared another ad with Sam Asghari featuring him with Porsha. “Actress @samasghari says Some Loves Last…lift, don’t shop!” they wrote in the caption. “We partnered with the stars to show you that the perfect addition to your family doesn’t have to come from a breeder.”
“I’m all for adoption but an animal someone buys also deserves a chance at a forever home. The problem is that it’s humans who dump their pets. And there are mitigating circumstances that may cause them to do so, however, most are left in shelters because they no longer want them,” commented one follower.
They went on to write, “At the end of the day, it is humans who create shelters to conquer. I hope both the shelter and the purchased dogs all find the loving homes they deserve. It’s just an opinion but I applaud him for doing this!” However, another user responded, “You sound just as conflicted as he is. None of his dogs are from shelters. But PETA is doing whatever it takes to stay relevant.”
Britney Spears Appears To Respond To Her Ex On Instagram
The “Hold Me Closer” singer shared four Instagram posts on Tuesday night but only mentioned her ex and a dog in one of them. The throwback video features screenshots of her dancing in the living room while showing off her manicure for the camera.
“This was last year and the first time showing my hands like this on Instagram !!! Assuming this is an affirmative way of saying nice to meet you in the right way ??♀️??♀️??♀️ !!!” he wrote in the caption. “Which confirmed the real age and it was so cool because the next day Hesam took me to his place and jumped out of the car and got a new dog ?????????? !!!”

It’s not clear if he was trying to imply that they bought the new dog instead of rescuing him or the dog he was referring to. In August, after Britney acquired Snow, a PETA representative released a statement to TMZ, saying:
“When influential people buy puppies, puppy mills cheer and animal shelters watch the homeless animal crisis worsen. With this adorable post, Britney Spears has condemned countless dogs in shelters to more days without love, a comfortable bed to snuggle in, or a chance at a real life.
“She could have been a force for good and adopted, but instead she chose to be toxic, and animals will pay with their lives,” they added, including the name of the pop star’s hit single “Toxic” in their statement.
