Sugar Wasn’t Allowed But Alcohol And Weed Was During Barrymore’s Childhood

The two longtime friends discussed various news before talking about Candy Funhouse Canada’s search for a chief candy officer. That led Lowe to talk about sugar and the sugar-deprived kids who would sneak up behind their parents. Lowe says, “Beware of kids who tell you their parents won’t let them eat sugar.” Barrymore added, “By the way, you’re right. You are right, because my mother does not allow me to eat sugar. Studio 54, and weed, and alcohol – fine. But don’t touch that sugar.”

Barrymore went on to explain that while other bad habits happen “out in the open,” sugar happens behind closed doors, closet doors to be exact. “I put chocolate in the cupboard,” he said.

In early 2021, Barrymore revealed that she spent 18 months in a psychiatric ward at the age of 13.
