Lauren Graham has revealed some little-known details about the breakdown of her longtime relationship with Peter Krause.
Although the former couple’s romance didn’t officially begin until 2010, Graham and Krause managed to keep their relationship a secret, limiting their public appearances to a few events, including the 2020 Golden Globes. Sadly, that event would later be referred to as their last time together in public.

In a move that no one saw coming, Graham opened up about the circumstances surrounding his split from Krause for the first time since it happened last year. The “Gilmore Girls” actress told PEOPLE in an interview:
“I think part of all the positives of having known each other for a long time is there. And one of the negatives is that we almost went into a relationship as people in our 40s without asking any of the questions that people in their 40s should ask. .”
He explained that even though he and the “9-1-1” cast had “such a good time together,” he neglected to ask “some basic questions” about his values and vision. Graham believes that their fundamental differences “caught up” with them, leading to their separation.
Since then, the “Someday, Maybe” author has made changes to her life, including renting a beach house before returning to Los Angeles to focus on her work. Acknowledging that time helped heal her broken heart, the actress added:
“Any pain still has its moments. I’m a contributor in his son’s life, so we’re in touch. And yes, I’m in a better place, but it’s still embarrassing. It’s just sad to me.”

Despite the pain, the 55-year-old remains open to finding love again, stating that she wants a good man with a good sense of humor. Fans will recall that Graham and his ex-partner kept news of their split under wraps for over a decade until an insider confirmed it to the news outlet, according to The Blast.
Lauren Graham & Peter Krause Relationship Timeline
Graham and Krause first met in 1995 when their careers began on the set of “Caroline in the City,” where Graham was a recurring guest star. When Krause joined the crew to film the episode, he and the cast developed a relationship.
However, it wasn’t until they starred as siblings on NBC’s 2010 hit drama, “Parenthood,” that their relationship turned romantic, prompting them to embark on a decade-long low-key relationship. Looking back on the early stages of their love affair, Graham said:
“I think we like each other [but] he invited me over to his house to play board games – and that’s what we ended up doing. So I was like, ‘This guy doesn’t like me. Who actually plays board games?’ The timing is not right. I don’t think either of us are ready.”

Their unavailability didn’t help to stop Graham’s “Gilmore Girls” co-star Kelly Bishop from supporting that they were dating. She revealed that Bishop was upset with her choice of boyfriend, claiming that she “needs someone more on par with me, like ‘a great actor on Six Feet Under.'”
The couple enjoyed an 11-year romance and achieved on-screen greatness when Krause made a surprise cameo appearance as a park ranger in Netflix’s “Gilmore Girls” revival, known as “Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life” in 2016. The single act brought the pair grew closer as Krause admitted later that his then-partner had helped him achieve one of his lifelong dreams. He has explained:
“When I was little, that was one of the things I wanted — I wanted to be a forest ranger or a park ranger. I think it’s going to be cool to be out there, have the truck make sure everything’s okay, save people.”
Their relationship began to deteriorate during the coronavirus outbreak as Graham could not “come and go” to visit her then-boyfriend due to quarantine rules at the time. He has been filming “The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers” thousands of miles away in Vancouver, Canada.
When he finally gets home, he’s shocked to learn that his lover and son Roman – who he shares with ex-girlfriend Christine King – have set some new rules.
