Not a good start.
A brand new, self-driving shuttle bus suddenly crashed into another airline in Orlando, Fla. — just two days after the shuttle service officially hit the roads.
A SWAN shuttle – short for Shuttling with Autonomous Navigation – collided with a full-size bus in a downtown area on Tuesday, police said.
The crash was filmed by a commuter testing the city’s much-hyped new service.

“Trying out the new SWAN Shuttle autonomous shuttle in Downtown Orlando today. We crashed. #Beep,” TikTok user Sam Gallaher posted alongside the now-viral video.
The footage shows a female shuttle passenger pressing a touchscreen just seconds before the driverless bus takes off.
Moments later, passengers can be heard saying “Whoa, whoa” as a regular city bus, known as a LYMMO, appears to pull in front of them to turn — swerving into the side of a shuttle bus in the process.
Both vehicles sustained “minor cosmetic damage” and no passengers on either bus were injured, police said.

The city just launched a new pilot service, powered by Beep technology, on August 20.
The service is designed to transport passengers through the Creative Village neighborhood during off-peak hours for the city’s regular bus service.
“SWAN Shuttle, an autonomous mobility pilot program, is partnering with Lynx and will be tested in Creative Village from August 2023 to April 2024. If successful, the pilot could be expanded across the city to areas such as SODO or Ivanhoe Village,” the city said when the service began.
