“Charlie’s physical mobility is limited to the space of his home, which is his sofa,” explained Fraser. “His story is told in private. He is a light in a dark room. It’s poetic that the trauma he endured is manifest in the physical weight of his body.”

The “George of the Jungle” star also reflected on his long career, saying, “I looked different then. My journey to where I am now is to explore as many characters as I can. I’m looking forward to how this film has the same profound effect on everyone as it has on me.”

“The Whale” will hit theaters on December 9, 2022.
