Brooke Burke has publicly discussed how her winning season on “Dancing with the Stars” could be for naught.
Sharing her experiences on the latest episode of fellow “DWTS” alum Cheryl Burke’s podcast, the fitness personality admitted that she and her dance partner Derek Hough faced various off-screen issues that made her want to quit the dance competition series. Fortunately, her partner at the time offered her advice that turned things around – and her relationship with the professional ballroom dancer – around.
Brooke Burke Has a Hard Time Hanging Out on ‘Dancing With the Stars’
When Brooke joined Cheryl on the recent “Sex, Lies, and Spray Tans” podcast, the pair had plenty of time to discuss a variety of topics. Things get even more interesting when Brooke delves into her previous relationship with Derek.
As the 52-year-old recalls, he and his former dance partner have faced huge challenges finding their rhythm, often having “problems off camera and in rehearsals.”
In addition to those problems, the two also have personal problems, such as Derek being “tired” because “he recorded an album at night” and Brooke being “fried” and “hormonal” because she has a “3-month-old baby.” and staying up “all night , practicing all day.” It also didn’t help that the “Wild On!” host suffered an injury during the same period. Of that he said:
“I can just go out because I have an injury. I have finished. I just want to go back to the simple things. I literally take an Epsom salt bath in the morning getting ready to go to practice. I come home at night, like, crying in the bathroom because I’m in pain. I’m sick, and I don’t trust my body.”

At that point, her husband, David Charvet, offered Brooke some life-changing advice to never quit. With that in mind, the “She’s Got the Look” star called for a “meeting of the minds” where she and Derek “commit and promise to meet each other with honesty and compassion.”
“Once we changed our minds and once we managed to win it and once we met each other honestly, something magical happened and we found trust in each other – at least I did – and we just decided to win, ” the mother of four elaborated.
Throughout the season, especially after a round of “precious” couple’s therapy arranged by the producers, Brooke confesses that she’s finally developing feelings for Derek. He confides in Cheryl, stating:
“If I’m not married… I actually hope we’ll be in love.”
This revelation apparently surprised him, as he added, “I don’t think I ever said that.” Cheryl also shared that, at the time, Derek privately expressed how interesting he found his partner. Echoing her earlier point, the “Melissa & Joey” actress stated:
“I will have an affair with him. But listen, let me tell you why: You’re intertwined with someone’s body when you’re not a dancer. There’s no way I’ve ever been that connected — other than with a lover or a husband — other than I was with Derek. And it happens every day.”

He ended the confession by claiming that he had only ever experienced that level of intimacy with a person outside of a ballroom and that it was “life-changing.”
‘Less Than Perfect’ Star Has A Fitness Routine That Covers Body & Mind Wellness
In June, the “Rock Me Baby” star launched her new 21-Day Fitness Challenge, which offers benefits beyond physical fitness. Emphasizing “intentional wellness” it provides a fun way to practice a healthier lifestyle while learning along the way. Speaking about the evergreen design challenge, Brooke exclusively told The Blast:
“The challenge is evergreen. Every summer I like to create something new that inspires to keep everyone motivated, but what I really like about this is the 21 days, three weeks to develop a new habit that I think will be an evergreen lifestyle. And it will be a great opportunity to step up your health game for the rest of the year.”
This program goes beyond physical fitness and covers many aspects of overall health. It includes 21 days of recipes, a daily worksheet to recognize your progress and cultivate gratitude, and a meditation practice.
“We added a lot of new things that we have never done before. Brooke Burke Body used to be really about fitness and then we switched to Brooke Burke Body and Soul, which is a more mindful approach.
Now what I do and focus on is intentional wellness. We just added meditation to the app, very excited about that,” said founder Brooke Burke Body.
