Elizabeth Francis Frakes is a Portland and Los Angeles-based theater actor, writer, and filmmaker. Genie Francis, her mother, is best known for her roles as Laura Spencer on “General Hospital,” Diana Colville on “Days of Our Lives,” and Genevieve Atkinson on “The Young and the Restless.”

Jonathan and Genie’s daughter, Elizabeth Francis Frakes was born on May 30, 1997, in Maine. Frakes, now 26, grew up in Belfast, Maine, with her brother, Jameson Ivor Frakes.

Frake’s theater career began in her mid-teens, when she won a prestigious National YoungArts Foundation Honorable Mention for her film IV Script, With Love, Tuck, and Alex at the age of 15.
Frakes stated in Viewpoint school that she wanted to study filmmaking and storytelling so that she could create documentaries to educate the public about environmental issues.
While in college, Eliza was heavily active in both the English and Theatre department and had completed an independent study in conjunction with both departments that allowed her to write a pilot and a play.
Her original pilot went on to win the Wild Sound Festival’s student branch. During her university years, she also received the Departmental Distinction Award in acting.
Elizabeth’s Theater Experience
Eliza began living and working across the country in writers’ rooms, on sets, in theaters, and as an educator after graduating from Portland Experimental Theatre Ensemble.
During her time in Los Angeles, she worked remotely as a script coverage writer for Fuzzy Door Productions. Some of Frake’s theater roles include Mash in Stupid F*$king Bird, Tabby in Cuddles, Lily in Waterlily, and Sarah in Murky (a short film). Frakes’ previous stage works include Remembrance Day and Moleman.
One of her works was shown at the Cannes Film Festival.
Frakes’ short films have also been selected for the Cannes Film Festival, and she was the winner of the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival.
Frakes’ colleagues have described her as one who is really good at creating original material and has starred in classical, modern, and experimental plays at the university and professional levels.
Eliza is also the founding director of 920 Collective, an interdisciplinary artists’ community that meets to collaborate with and support early-career media makers.
She, too, is a member of Corrib Theatre.
Frakes resume outside of theater began to form when in September of 2019, she landed a gig as a Writer’s PA on a new show for CBS all access, which allowed her to work in the support staff and learn from sitting in the TV writers’ room.
Eliza then finished a year-long residency with Echo Theatre as one of their chosen young playwrights in 2020, where she debuted her first full-length play, Moleman.

Jonathan Frakes and Genie Francis, Eliza Frakes’ parents, met while filming the miniseries “Bare Essence” in 1982. They began dating in 1985, however. After meeting for the second time while filming another mini-series called “North and South” in 1984.
The coupled became engaged in 1986 and tied the knot on May 28, 1988, and has remained married since.
They had two children after their marriage: a son, Jameson Ivor Frakes, born in 1994, and a daughter, Elizabeth Francis Frakes, born in 1997.
