Elle Fanning revealed that she misses something “big” because her social media following is unmatched.
Elle Fanning Is Not Popular Enough

There’s no question about the actor getting a lot of work, but there were times when he wasn’t great enough to land a major role in a franchise film series. Out of respect for the movie, he didn’t name it, but he told Josh Horowitz on the “Happy Sad Confused” podcast that it was an odd situation.
“I didn’t get a part once for something big because – it’s probably not just this reason, but this is the feedback I heard – it’s because I didn’t have enough Instagram followers at the time.”
Now, Fanning has 6.2 million followers. That’s a dramatic 3.6 million more than her sister Dakota Fanning who paved the way for her younger sister to work in the industry. The odd choice confused Fanning.
“That’s something I can’t believe, for not getting the part.”
Elle Fanning Is In A Different Position Now

At this time, The Great Star is in a position where she doesn’t have to push for social media followers. “I don’t think so. I don’t,” he said. “It’s doing things for people, you know, but you also don’t know if they’re going to work sometimes, which is also scary,” the actor revealed.
Fanning is happy not to feel that pressure and is okay with not getting a role in a movie like the Marvel, Star Wars, or DC franchises. Sure, it “does something” for people’s careers, but it’s not for everyone.
He explained that he was trying to get into a big franchise, as many actors do. “I’ve tried to…I won’t say what it is, but I didn’t get a part once for something big because – it’s probably not the only reason, but this is the feedback I hear – is because I don’t have enough Instagram followers at that time.”
He understands that not getting the role is part of the bigger picture. “So it was a little bit like…I really couldn’t believe it if I didn’t get the part [for that]. It’s for a bigger thing, a franchise thing.”
Nicholas Hoult Knows Feelings

Star fan in The Great with Hoult, and he also had trouble getting a franchise, but the reason was not because of followers. Hoult has been in Marvel’s X-Men franchise for some time but admits it could have been more.
He is ready for the role in Top Gun: Maverick and Batman, where Hoult lost the role of Bruce Wayne/Batman to fellow Brit Robert Pattinson.
Elle Jokes that he’s easier than Hoult, apparently. “I didn’t have to go through what Nick did…they made him try [Batman] suitable It is better if you have balance. If you want to do your indie work, especially in producing now…[having a big franchise] makes you breathe better.”
Hoult did say, never said, never. “I would never say no to that, but I have to meet and talk to see what it is.”
