“Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” star Ellie Kemper is now “marathon retired” according to her Instagram bio. The actor ran in the NYC Marathon, his first marathon, and finished the race in 5:17:39.

Kemper, 42, shared a post of appreciation after he finished the race on Sunday. “Uh-oh….get ready for an emotional post!!!!!! I completed the @nycmarathon! And now for the thanks,” she began the caption of her marathon photo carousel on Instagram. “Thank you to EVERYONE who came out on the streets cheering, shouting, greeting and handing out bananas. Special thanks to the parents and caregivers who gave birth to their adorable sweetie pie babies with the faces of little angels who truly carried me through the journey.”

The caption goes on to thank all the volunteers and everyone at the New York Road Runners who organized the marathon of 50K participants. He also thanked his partner Brotherhood Sister Sol, the non-profit organization for which he raised funds. “Yesterday was crazy on every level and I’m in awe of NYC’s strength and resilience,” she concluded her caption.

Many of his friends and fans ran to the comment section to cheer him on and send congratulatory messages filled with love and support. Several of Kemper’s “Office” co-stars commented to congratulate her on her big achievement. Angela Kinsey wrote, “Congratulations Ellie!!! Kemper shared the news that she would be running in her first marathon on Instagram in early October with a photo of her running dressed ready to go. She captioned the post, “You knew it had to happen…I’m running the @nycmarathon! This will be my first marathon and here I am in my cute new marathon running belt.”

Ashton Kutcher Is Among Other Celebrities Running In Races And Raising Money For Charity

Other celebrities running the NYC Marathon this year include Lauren Ridloff, Tiki Barber, Chelsea Clinton, and Ashton Kutcher. Kutcher, 44, finished the marathon in 3:54:01, and raised more than $1 million to help fight child sexual abuse through his foundation Thorn. Kutcher teamed up with Peloton to train for the 26.2-mile race through five counties and to raise awareness for his charity.

Kutcher told PEOPLE that he “really enjoyed running” and said he was motivated by a child sex-trafficking victim that Thorn had been looking for for the past two years. “I put that kid across the finish line,” he said. “I know he’s out there and I want him to know that someone is coming for him.”
