Legendary singer Elton John achieved EGOT status with his recent Emmy win for “Elton John Live: Farewell from Dodger Stadium.”

His distinguished career includes five Grammys, two Oscars, and a Tony. The farewell concert marked the triumphant return of her extensive tour, with over 50,000 attendees and guest stars such as Dua Lipa.

John recently achieved EGOT status after earning an Emmy Award for best variety show (live) with “Elton John Live: Farewell from Dodger Stadium” available on Disney+.

Unfortunately, a “very pleased” John was unable to attend the awards ceremony due to left knee replacement surgery.

David Furnish, the singer’s husband and special producer of the concert, revealed that John was delighted with his first Emmy win, mentioning that he “screamed out loud.”

Holding John’s award backstage, Furnish shared, per Page Six: “We FaceTimed him. We woke him up in the middle of the night. He has returned to the UK. He had his left knee replaced — which isn’t surprising when you think about the number of pianos he’s jumped on.”

Acknowledging her new status, the acclaimed British singer-pianist said she was “very humbled” to join the ranks of EGOT winners. “The journey to this moment has been filled with passion, dedication, and unwavering support from my fans around the world,” he said in a statement.

John’s widely acclaimed concert was the North American finale of his extensive Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour – three nights at Los Angeles stadiums that marked a triumphant return from a pandemic hiatus.

The tour, which began in September 2018 with more than 300 dates scheduled, faced a hiatus in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic but resumed in 2021. More than 50,000 fans attended the peak, which featured guest appearances from rising stars such as Dua Lipa and Brandi Carlyle.

Expressing gratitude, John said: “Tonight is a testament to the power of art and the joy it brings to all our lives. Thank you to everyone who has supported me throughout my career. I am very grateful.”

John revealed the exciting news about his latest project at the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame induction for fellow songwriter Bernie Taupin at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center. He shared, “The album will surprise you. It’s really beautiful, and it’s full of youth, and it’s full of vitality.”

Additionally, renowned photographer David LaChapelle is on hand to contribute cover art for John’s upcoming album.

In an interview with Page Six for his latest exhibition, “Happy Together,” at Visu Contemporary in Miami, LaChapelle shared his joy, recalling how John’s influence played a key role in his own journey.

LaChapelle recalled her childhood, noting that she grew up with “her posters all over my bedroom. She shared, “This time in fourth grade we were living in North Carolina.”

He went on to reveal he “felt like a weirdo and a weirdo.” He added, “Bible belt, gay, I’m a Christian, but they curse gay people… in the fifth grade I started going through puberty. I don’t think I fit in, or will be accepted.”

He added that John, as a rock icon, “showed me there was a place for me in the world … he was a huge and important figure to me as a child.”
