Enraged Fans Slam Justin Bieber Over Glowing Review Of Frank Ocean’s Coachella Performance

Justin Bieber has once again found himself in the bad books of fans.

The singer recently took to Instagram to praise singer Frank Ocean’s Coachella performance despite the setbacks that left fans less than entertained.

Fans blasted Bieber, telling him he should be brave enough to openly discuss how substandard the show was instead of defending Ocean.

Some have called him a hypocrite for being quick to defend the two-time Grammy award winner but apparently refusing to comment on the feud between his ex, Selena Gomez, and his wife, Hailey.

Justin Bieber ‘Has Been Touched’ By Frank Ocean

Through his Instagram page, Bieber praised Ocean’s performance on Sunday even though thousands of fans already considered the performance somewhat controversial.

The singer penned a glowing statement to tell her 286 million followers how “infatuated” she is with the 29-year-old pop star, who last performed in public six years ago.

Bieber also described Ocean’s “artistry” as “simply unparalleled” and praised his “style, his taste, his voice, his attention to detail.”

He added, “I was very moved. It makes me want to keep going and getting better as an artist. He continues to set the bar high and gave me a night I will never forget! Thank you Frank.”

Surprisingly, Bieber locked the comment section of the post, preventing his followers from sharing their thoughts. However, distraught fans took to other social media platforms to call the singer “Holy” for his glowing reviews, which they felt Ocean didn’t deserve.

Fans React To Justin Bieber’s Comment

One Twitter user responded to Bieber’s statement, said“I don’t know Justin, I think you (and most of us) love him too much as an artist to accept that he put on a disappointing show, because that’s what happened.”

Second person said“It’s okay to say it’s not a great show, don’t understand the need to defend it.”

Others seemed to call Bieber a hypocrite for being quick to defend Ocean but staying silent on the verbal abuse his wife Hailey has received lately from a fan of his ex, Selena Gomez.

A fan said, “This man is apt to praise others but is unable to defend his own wife. Crazy,” said another comment“He stood up frankly more than he stood up for his own wife.”

Complaints About Frank Ocean’s Coachella Performance

Although Ocean’s vocals received praise as he performed his discography, repeated gaps between songs and concerns that the artist was not really visible to the audience left many fans dissatisfied.

Some concertgoers complained about the poor stage lighting and that parts of the stage set-up only served to hinder the singers rather than providing the intended aesthetic.

The singer also reportedly arrived an hour late, after which he spent most of his performance sitting down, despite reports that he may have suffered an injury before the event, per TMZ. Ocean’s performance was also not streamed on the official Coachella YouTube live stream, even though it was the headline act.

Unsurprisingly, fans were quick to compare the flop to Bad Bunny and Black Pink, who headlined Coachella on Friday and Saturday night, respectively, and streamed online.

Frank Ocean Teases New Music

Despite the setbacks, fans left the event on a bit of a positive note as the two-time Grammy Award winner teased that he might be dropping new music soon.

Ocean last released music in 2020, when he dropped two acoustic tracks. Before that, she released her last studio album, “Blonde,” in 2016. She was also set to headline Coachella in 2020 before the event was postponed by COVID and brought back to 2022.

“I have missed you. I want to talk about why I’m here, because it’s not because of the new album… not that there’s no new album,” the singer said at one point during his performance, per Many people.

Ocean also paid tribute to his late brother, Ryan Breaux, who died in 2020 at the age of 18 during a car accident, talking about the time they came to Coachella together.

He is scheduled to return for the second weekend of the festival, where many expect him to give a better performance.
