On Tuesday, May 23, Mattea Roach went to Twitter to share a picture of him and his late father. “In one of my contestant anecdotes on Jeopardy Masters tonight, I talked about my dad,” he explained, referring to the second day of the semifinals on “Jeopardy! Masters Tournament”.

“I’ve done this many times on the show before, but this time I’m speaking in the past tense because my father passed away earlier this month,” he continued. “I want to acknowledge my father in the context of tonight’s game first because he was the subject of the first contestant anecdote I ever told on Jeopardy. “I also want to talk about my father because he died while the Master was in production. The first seven episodes were filmed before he died, the last three episodes were filmed after. (He got to see episode four in the studio so he knew it was going well for me),” he explained. “I’m going to say this on TV tonight but I want to say it again here – I was on the set of Jeopardy when my dad died. Short of being at home with my family, I can’t imagine a better place to be when receiving such horrible news.”

Mattea went on to address the fact that her father’s death had made headlines before she publicly acknowledged his death. “My father’s death was in the news before I acknowledged it here, and I personally do not agree with the premise that it is newsworthy (he is not a public figure, I am not a big enough name for the death of a family member to warrant public interest),” he wrote. .
