An angry group representing many 9/11 families said it was “appalling” that young TikTok users shared Osama bin Laden’s “Letter to America” and showed “sympathy” for the terrorist leader.
“There is no American who does not know that Osama bin Laden was a terrorist who helped orchestrate the murder of nearly 3,000 innocent Americans on September 11, 2001,” said Terry Strada, national chairman of 9/11 Families United — an organization that represents more than 10,000 relatives -mara victims killed, survivors and those sick or injured in terrorist attacks — to The Post in a statement.
“These Americans are our husbands, wives, mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters and daughters,” he said of the victims of the terrorist attack.
“It is sad to see younger Americans voicing sympathy for bin Laden’s dangerous and antisemitic worldview 22 years after our country was horribly attacked and our loved ones killed indiscriminately by Islamists funded by the Government of Saudi Arabia and at the behest of Osama bin Laden. ,” Strada continued.
“We strongly encourage Americans who are not old enough to remember the atrocities of 9/11 to find reliable sources to educate themselves instead of forming their misguided opinions based on TikTok videos.
“We also call on TikTok to stop allowing its platform to be used to promote terrorist propaganda.

“No American can forget that Osama bin Laden’s stated goal was to impose a Wahhabi version of Islam promoted by Saudi Arabia on ‘infidels’ and ‘non-believers’ around the world and here in America – a version that treats women as secondary . -class citizens, accused of homosexuality, killed journalists and received the beheading for minor deviations from Wahhabi doctrine,” the chairman said.
“That was the goal with 9/11, and nobody should forget that,” he said.
The group’s statement echoed a statement issued by the White House, which condemned a video promoting Osama Laden’s 2002 letter as an “insult” to the “innocent” victims of the September 11 terrorist attacks.
“There is no excuse for spreading the disgusting, evil and antisemitic lies that Al Qaeda’s leaders issued shortly after carrying out the worst terrorist attack in American history — highlighting them as his direct motivation to kill 2,977 innocent Americans,” White House spokesman Andrew Andrews said. Bates said.

“No one can insult the 2,977 American families who are still grieving their loved ones by associating themselves with the vile words of Osama bin Laden, especially now, at a time when antisemitic violence is on the rise in the world, and right after Hamas terrorists have committed world slaughter. Jews since the Holocaust in the name of the same conspiracy theory,” he said.
“As President Biden said this year in memory of the Americans who lost their lives to Osama bin Laden, ‘It is more important now than ever that we stand together’ against the rising tide of hatred and extremism.”
The slain terrorist leader’s old message went viral online this week, as Gen Zers cited it for changing their worldview in light of Hamas terrorist atrocities and Israeli counterattacks.
The most vile quote from Osama bin Laden’s ‘Letter to America’
- “Your law is the law of the rich and wealthy, who hold power in their political parties, and finance their election campaigns with their gifts. Behind them stand the Jews, who control your policies, media and economy.”
- “These governments have surrendered to the Jews, and ceded the greater part of Palestine to them, recognizing the existence of their nation upon the dismembered members of their own people.”
- “We also call on you to deal with us and interact with us on the basis of mutual interests and benefits, instead of the policy of subjugation, theft and occupation, and not to continue your policy of supporting the Jews because this will result in more disaster for you.”
- “The British handed over Palestine, with your help and support, to the Jews, who had occupied it for more than 50 years; years overflowing with oppression, tyranny, crime, murder, expulsion, destruction and destruction. The creation and continuation of Israel is one of the greatest crimes, and you are its criminal leader.”
- “And of course there is no need to explain and prove the level of American support for Israel. The creation of Israel is a crime that must be eradicated. Everyone whose hands have been soiled in contributing to this crime must pay the price, and pay it heavily.”
- “These governments prevent our people from upholding Islamic Sharia, using force and lies to do so.”
- “Do not expect anything from us except Jihad, resistance and revenge.”
- “Also the American military is part of the American people. These are the same people who shamelessly helped the Jews fight us. The American people are the ones who employ both their men and women in the American Forces that attack us. This is why the American people cannot be innocent of all the crimes that America and the Jews have committed against us.
In his missive, bin Laden claimed that he orchestrated the deadly attack on the World Trade Center because the US was “attacking us in Palestine.”
Bin Laden – who was famously killed by US Navy SEALS in a dramatic night raid on Pakistani soil in 2011 – called the creation of Israel “a crime that must be extinguished” and went on to insist that in the US, Jews “control your politics, media and economy.”
The Guardian, which had published the full text of the letter in 2002, pulled it on Wednesday, citing the fact in a statement that it was “widely shared on social media without full context.
“Therefore we have decided to take it down and direct readers to the news article that originally contextualized it,” the outlet said.
A TikTok representative said, “The content promoting this letter clearly violates our rules about supporting any form of violence” and added that the company is “proactively and aggressively removing this content and investigating how it got onto our platform.”

At the same time, the company tried to deny that bin Laden-related content had gone viral – despite videos showing it had received hundreds of thousands of views.
“The number of videos on TikTok is small, and reports of them trending on our platform are inaccurate,” the representative claimed. “This is not unique to TikTok and has appeared on various platforms and media.”
Meanwhile, a group of Jewish celebrities and TikTok influencers met virtually with executives to discuss the rise of antisemitism on the platform.
Many who spoke at the hearing claimed they were bombarded with messages that read, “Hitler was right” and “I hope you end up like Anne Frank,” according to the New York Times, which reviewed recordings of the meeting.
Actor Sacha Baron Cohen went further, accusing TikTok of creating “the biggest antisemitic movement since the Nazis.”
The British star told TikTok executives that they could just “turn on a switch” to fix antisemitism on the platform.
“Shame on you,” he told executives, led by TikTok’s chief operating officer, Adam Presser, and head of global consumer operations, Seth Melnick, the Times said.
