A newly released video shows Wagner Group boss Yevgeny Prigozhin bragging about surviving the assassination attempt — fueling the conspiracy that the Russian warlord may still be alive.
The footage was released on a Telegram channel linked to Prigozhin’s mercenary group on Wednesday — a week after he was understood to have died in a fiery plane crash.
“For those who are discussing whether I’m alive or not, how I’m doing — now it’s the weekend, the second half of August 2023, I’m in Africa,” Prigozhin, 62, said in a clip released by the Gray Zone Telegram Channel linked to Wagner.
“So for people who like to discuss my dissolution or my personal life, how much I earn or whatever – it’s all OK,” he added with a wave of his hand.

The footage was posted without comment, including details about when or where it was recorded.
However, Prigozhin’s camouflage clothing and matching hat, along with a watch on his right wrist, match his appearance in a video released on August 21 that appears to be from Africa.
It was his first public speech since President Vladimir Putin labeled him a “traitor” over the short-lived June uprising – and his last before he was pronounced dead in a private jet crash two days later.

Prigozhin’s “weekend” reference in the latest clip suggests it must have been shot between August 19 and August 20 — just days before he and another commander and Wagner’s bodyguard were killed in a plane crash in Tver region on August 23. .
The Gray Zone channel previously released what it described as some of Prigozhin’s “last” photos from Africa, showing him posing with a large group of black men.
The accompanying post stated that the image was taken in the Central African Republic “shortly before his departure for Russia.”

Although the Gray Zone does not suggest that Prigozhin is still alive, the timing of the release and comments by powerful people about the attempted “melting” survivors only add fuel to the already widespread conspiracy that he is still alive.
Among them is Dr. Valery Solovey, a former professor at the prestigious Moscow State Institute of International Relations, reiterated the widely shared conspiracy that the warlord was not on the crashed jet.
“His [body] double flew instead of him. By the way, Vladimir Putin is well aware of that,” the analyst said in a recent YouTube interview, claiming that the real Wagner chief is “alive, healthy and free.”

The former academic said that Prigozhin planned to take revenge “on the people who planned to destroy him.”
The Russian Investigative Committee investigating the plane disaster has confirmed, citing genetic tests, that Prigozhin was among the 10 people who died in the crash.
The rogue mercenary leader was buried in a private ceremony at the cemetery in St. Petersburg on Tuesday.
The Kremlin has dismissed as an “absolute lie” suggestions that Putin killed Prigozhin in retaliation for his rise, but has said the investigation into the crash is looking into the possibility that the crash was the result of “deliberate misconduct.”
