A former Connecticut cop is accused of being a “serial thief” who is believed to have committed at least 30 thefts in three different states.
Patrick Hemingway, who resigned from the Glastonbury Police Department on Sept. 1, is suspected of targeting restaurants and businesses in the Constitution State as well as Rhode Island and Massachusetts, according to recently unsealed warrants.
Several crimes took place in Glastonbury between February and June this year, while Hemingway was an officer there, according to reports.
Hemingway joined the Glastonbury team in 2019 and was previously an official at New Britain, starting in 2009.
Surveillance footage shows someone resembling Hemingway and the dexterity with which the crime was committed suggests law enforcement experience.

The suspected thief was seen holding a flashlight “tactically,” using FBI techniques, and holding “an object looped and strapped to his left ear,” like a portable radio used at the Glastonbury Police Department, according to the warrant.
The warrant also states that the ex-cop left a bag with a locking device at the police department when he resigned. Such tools are used in some burglary cases. A Jeep similar to Hemingway’s wife was also seen at several locations where the crime took place.
Hemingway was charged last month with computer crimes and making false statements.
A judge set his bail at $1 million, noting that he had a pilot’s license and could flee.
