Comedian Kevin Brennan has sparked outrage by celebrating the sudden death of “Friends” star Matthew Perry — even writing, “I love it when junkies die.”
The former “Saturday Night Live” writer wrote a series of messages shortly after news of the beloved actor’s death broke on Saturday,
“DROWN IN A HOT TUB. HAHAHAHA,” Brennan initially wrote on X.
Asked “Why is drowning in a hot tub funny?,” Brennan replied“Because it’s not very deep.”
The podcaster later defended his statement after TMZ published a story about them.
“I’m not mocking him,” he said, shared the TMZ story. “I just thought it was funny.
“But I love it when junkies die.”

One user X called her a “p–ck” in response to her callousness about Perry’s death, writing, “I hope you are never affected by this dangerous disease.”
But Brennan just reposting the commentwrote: “Sounds like fun.”

Another user also wrote to Brennan, “I will never understand the mindset of someone who posts s–t like this.
“I wish you well, because you must be sick,” wrote user X, to which Brennan replied“Thank you.”
And when a third tweeted to Brennan, “Remind me to laugh at you when it’s your turn,” he said write back“I’ll probably forget.”
When an X user asked him why he thought Perry’s death was funny, Brennan said, “Because [a hot tub’s] not too deep.” @mlcpodcast / X
Meanwhile, Brennan’s former show, “Saturday Night Live,” paid tribute to the beloved “Friends” actor just hours after he died.
During the NBC sketch series, a black and white photo of the actor and his name flashed on the screen.
Perry, 54, was found dead in the jacuzzi of his home in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood of Los Angeles shortly after 4pm on Saturday.

A law enforcement source told TMZ that first responders rushed to the address after a call reporting a heart attack. At this time it is unclear who called 911.
Sources said no illegal drugs were found at the scene and no foul play was suspected.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed to The Post on Sunday that an autopsy on the late star has been completed. However, doctors have ordered more tests, including toxicology, which may take several months.
The cause of death was “delayed.”

Perry – who is unmarried and has no children – has a long history of drug and alcohol abuse.
He opened up about his decades-long battle with addiction in a memoir titled “Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing,” published last year.
Perry went to rehab 15 times and has had 14 surgeries to try to reduce damage to his stomach lining from alcohol and opioid use.

The actor claimed he almost died in 2018 from a gastrointestinal perforation. He spent two weeks in a coma and five months in hospital. He also had to use a colostomy bag for nine months.
“The doctor told my family I had a 2 percent chance of living,” Perry stated during a promotional interview for his book last year. “I was put on something called an ECMO machine, which does all the breathing for your heart and lungs. And that’s called Hail Mary. No one survived that.”

Last year, Perry claimed he’d spent nearly $9 million trying to get sober over the years — and finally succeeded. The star has been drug and alcohol free since May 2021.
In a promotional interview for her book last year, Perry said she “wants to be remembered as someone who lived well, loved well, was a seeker. And the most important thing is that she wanted to help people.”

“That’s what I want.”
“The best thing about me, none, is that if someone comes to me and says, ‘I can’t stop drinking, can you help me?,’ I can say ‘yes’ and follow through and do it,” he added, noting that is how he wants to be remembered.
“When I die, I don’t want ‘Friends’ to be the first thing that’s mentioned,” Perry said. “I want that [helping others] be the first thing mentioned. And I will live the rest of my life to prove it.”
