F1 driver Carlos Sainz chases down robbers who stole his $540K watch

Ferrari Formula One driver Carlos Sainz Jr. was robbed of his luxury watch hours after finishing third in Sunday’s Italian Grand Prix, but the speedster was able to catch up with the villain and get it back.

Sainz, 29, from Spain, was targeted near the Armani Hotel in Milan for a $540,000 Richard Mille watch while still wearing his team uniform, according to ESPN.

The driver, his trainer and witnesses then chased the suspect and were able to retrieve the watch, the report said, citing Italian media.

Sainz was then filmed holding his breath as police handcuffed a suspect.

The Spaniard then contacted X to discuss the incident.

“As you all know, yesterday we had an unfortunate incident in Milano. The most important thing is that we are all OK and this will only remain an unpleasant anecdote,” wrote Sainz.

The robbery comes a year after his Formula One driver Charles Leclerc was robbed of a Richard Mille watch in Italy by four suspects, who were later arrested.

Driver Lando Norris was also robbed of an exclusive Richard Mille piece in 2020 while watching a soccer match, and a suspect was later found not guilty, according to Planet F1.
