Fans Give Doja Cat Flack After Sharing Updated Album Art

Fans were not impressed with Doja Cat’s update on his upcoming album artwork.

The “Kiss Me More” hitmaker received backlash after she uploaded a photo revealing a new version of the project’s cover, “Scarlet.” The latest problems came after he scrapped the first version of the work earlier this week.

Doja Cat Fans Call Him Out For His Album Update

The last few days have been quite dramatic for Doja, as he was forced to delete his original “Scarlet” artwork after it was compared to German metal band Chaver. The early art on display not only bears a resemblance to the band’s spider in a fitting red color, but the same person designed it, and both projects are expected to drop on September 22nd.

Unexpected events caused the singer-songwriter to delete the post. And now, she’s announced the alternate cover in an Instagram post accompanied by the caption, “Updated Skin.”

The new artwork showcases a hand-drawn creature resembling a spider, with pearls representing its head and abdomen, against a white background. Reactions immediately began pouring in from her fans and followers, with one stating, “Addicted to having an album cover that can’t be posted.”

“It’s a dope cover but with all the doja love it’s a weak cover …. I was hoping for red blood or something like a tour promo picture … although I’m still very excited for the album,” said a second netizen. A third cybernaut quipped, “Me when a friend lets me copy his work and tells me to change something,” and a fourth just laughs.

Chaver had previously given words to the artist responsible for their album artwork, Dusty Ray. They have shared via social media:

“The striking cover art, expertly designed by Dusty Ray @sloppjockey_ert (who has been with us since our first album), serves as a captivating contrast to the album’s intense music, setting the stage for a journey to a painful place.”

As for the deletion of Doja’s early album cover, Popcrave revealed via X, “Doja Cat has deleted her album announcement post for ‘Scarlet.’ The decision was apparently made after similarities were found between his album cover and the metal band CHAVER. Both artworks are by artist Dusty Ray.”

The news caused this fan to express, “I’m confused why so similar omg?? Damn near exact replica. He commissioned this so it should be custom, even if it’s by the same artist ☹️ Man sucks.” Another user X commented, “I’m actually glad, because that little spider didn’t do it for me.”

The ‘Attention’ artist has clashed with his supporters

Apart from making changes in his upcoming music project, Doja has been feuding with his fans for months. As The Blast reported, his repeated attempts to insult them caused them to unfollow him en masse.

He has responded to the situation by writing through his Instagram Story, “Seeing all these people stop following me makes me feel like I’ve defeated a huge beast that has been holding me back for so long. And it feels like I can reconnect with people who really matter and love me for who I am and not who I used to be.”

A few weeks later, the “Wine Pon You” performer uploaded a picture of a pipe with a black head, as if running into a bathtub. “What’s important to me is that my fans know who I am and others are stuck trying to find out,” Doja typed across the photo.

The battle between the Grammy Award-winning singer and her fans led to the former’s three famous fan accounts, specifically Doja HQ, The Kittens Room and Doja Cat News. During this incident, the “So High” artist advised the yard operator and his other supporters to “get a life, get a job and help your parents with the house.”

The situation worsened when one of his fans mentioned holding a poll on the ideal fan name in 2020 and in response, the “Paint the Town Red” hitmaker called the poll’s creator an “alcoholic teenager.”

He then claimed, “My fans don’t call themselves shit,” infuriating the crowd. As it stands, we are on the edge of our seats wondering if Doja will finally relent and apologize to the offended community.
