Kelly Clarkson posted a statement to her Instagram regarding the allegations shared by current and former staffers of “The Kelly Clarkson Show” on Friday night.

Earlier Friday, an article in Rolling Stone containing accounts of people in the talk show’s working environment was published. The article features nearly a dozen stories, claiming the behind-the-scenes background has been tainted by negativity. These accounts shared stories of mistreatment, including bullying by senior staff and low pay, to name a few claims.
Several accounts named specific producers who had also maintained hostile work environments at their previous workplaces.
NBCUniversal also released a statement emphasizing their commitment to putting employees first and a positive work environment—the network aims to foster an “inclusive” and “creative” atmosphere.
Clarkson’s Shared Account Pressure Not to Blame for Alleged Toxicity
Staff shared the side effects they experienced as a result of the highly stressful environment. Some accounts insist Clarkson was not the cause of the dispute and was reportedly unaware of the situation backstage.

The “Since U Have Been Gone” singer received plenty of praise in current and former staff accounts, with one emphasizing she was “someone who never treated anyone with anything but dignity and a lot of appreciation.”
A second former employee echoed this claim, saying, “I’d be shocked if he knew. I’d be upset if he knew the staff weren’t paid for the two weeks of Christmas vacation. Kelly who I interacted with, and everyone knows, would probably be shocked to find out.” (both accounts via Entertainment Tonight)
However, a staff member shared an account with Entertainment Tonight that recounted the creation of the Rolling Stone piece.
They shared, “The Rolling Stone article was a surprise. ‘Kelly’ is fast producing and not without stress, but there is nothing about the environment that makes it labeled toxic. The show is still paying us, even though we had to close early because of the writers’ strike.”
Clarkson Responds To Allegations On Instagram
Clarkson revealed her views on the working environment backstage on “The Kelly Clarkson Show.”
The black-and-white text reads, “During my 20 years in the entertainment industry, I have always led with my heart and what I believe is right. I love my team on ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show,’ and to know anyone who feels unheard and or disrespected on the show is unacceptable.”
The host of “The Voice” also stated that all senior staff, including himself, will undergo leadership training. He also insisted the team will be “made up of the best and the best in the business” when staff begin the move to the East Coast.
Clarkson also promised that leadership-related efforts would be put in place to rid the work environment of “any notion of toxicity.”
“… There is always room to grow and ensure we all become the best version of ourselves in any business, especially when it comes to leadership, to ensure that any notion of toxicity is eradicated,” Clarkson’s statement concluded.
