A father of five is accused of fatally shooting his wife and three adult daughters inside the family’s suburban Chicago home Sunday morning, according to police and reports.
The four women were seriously injured in what officials described as a “domestic-related shooting” inside a home on 173rd Street in Tinley Park just before 11:30 a.m., according to Tinley Park Public Safety and ABC 7 Chicago.
A man inside the home reportedly called 911 to report the carnage and was arrested at the scene, according to police and dispatch calls obtained by WGN News.
“A male subject said his wife was shot. The line is disconnected. He was not very cooperative,” said the dispatcher.
Dispatchers later called the scene a “massacre” when asking for more units.
When officers arrived, they found the bodies of four women identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner as Majeda Kassem, 59; Halema Kassem, 25; Zahia Kassem, 25; and Hanan Kassem, 24, according to local stations. Each had suffered a gunshot wound.

They took a man, believed to be the victim’s husband and father, into custody at the scene, where they also found a firearm, according to local reports.
A neighbor who knew the family – made up of a husband and wife, three grown daughters, and two grown sons – said the news of the gruesome crime was “shocking” to wake up to on Sunday morning, given that the victim and alleged killer were “such a close family good that has a bright future.”
“My daughter knows them,” Charlotte Vaitkus told ABC 7. “She goes to school with the oldest son, and she employs the twins. He always talked about how they were all very smart, and they had very high goals in life.

There were no previous law enforcement calls to the home, Village Manager Patt Carr said.
The killing was the deadliest incident to hit Tinley Park, a village southwest of Chicago, in nearly two decades.

But Car insists there is no threat to the public.
“This was isolated to the house,” he told reporters at a press conference about the shooting. “The scene is safe. There is only one suspect for now.”
