Post Malone Sues Rental Company For Not Returning $400K Security Deposit

Singer Post Malone is suing a rental company for returning his $400,000 security deposit.

In new court documents obtained by The Blast, the “Circles” rapper appears to be at odds with the rental company over alleged damages and money withheld when he rented a place in Brentwood.

In the document, Post Malone – through his tour company – claims that he was overcharged when he rented a venue in Brentwood and disagrees with the amount of money withheld for alleged damages. The singer-songwriter claims that DK Developments, LLC breached their rental agreement by withholding at least $338,419.28 of her $400,000 security deposit. Wow.

In the filing, the “Congratulations” singer claims that the rental company “significantly overstated the amount of damages claimed, deducted for items clearly not deductible under Lease or California law, and failed to provide supporting documentation for the claimed damages after several request.”

Even so, Post Malone did not contest that the rental company was allowed to withhold $50,469.66 for utility payments and $11,111.06 for two additional days under the lease agreement they signed on March 17, 2022. The court document goes on to state: “Plaintiff’s damages include the remaining security deposit of $338,419.28.”

It is not clear what the “damage” was to the house.

Rental Agreement Fees Include ‘Pool Heating’ Fees

The Blast contains a copy of their rental agreement, which includes miscellaneous fees that Post Malone apparently agreed to by signing a lease last year. One such fee is the “Pool Heating Fee”, which costs $300 for initial setup. From there, the rental company charges a daily fee of $100 per day for each day the pool remains heated.

The agreement also states that he will not tamper with or touch the pool equipment, which includes the pool heater, pump and filter. The agreement also states that he has to notify the manager if there is a water leak, fire, or other damage. “Guests will leave the Property upon departure in the same condition as at check-in, reasonable wear and tear excluded and subject to the Manager’s pre- and post-rental cleaning services for which guests pay hereunder,” the lease states.

Although guests are allowed on the property, the lease states that no party or event attended by more than fifty people is allowed unless the manager has agreed to it in advance. The lease also states that the “Better Now” singer cannot “play amplified music” after 11 PM PT.

Other fees include a rekeying fee of $850 for a lost house key and $200 for a lost garage opener. There is also an additional fee of $500 if any traces of smoking or related paraphernalia are found on the property. Since Post Malone has admitted that the area is under 24-hour video surveillance, there appears to be video evidence to back up the damage that may or may not have occurred during his stay at the property.

Malone continued, “I felt really good last night, but today it feels so different than before. I’m having a really hard time breathing, and there’s like a stabbing pain when I breathe or move.” The singer explained that the pain will not allow him to give his fans the performance they deserve, but he will make up for it.

He wrote, “Everyone’s tickets for tonight’s show will be valid for the rescheduling we are currently planning. Again, I’m so f—— sorry. I love you all so much. I feel bad, but I promise I will make this up to you. I love you Boston, I’ll see you soon.”
