Federal agencies have refused to help a Florida grand jury convened by Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis investigate the effectiveness of the COVID-19 vaccine, the panel said Friday.
In their refusal to participate, some witnesses have told the grand jury that “professional or personal consequences” may arise from their cooperation with the investigation, while others have criticized the “fairness” of the investigation, the panel said in a 33-page interim report on the inquiry. .
“Unfortunately, not all of our investigative efforts have been met with full cooperation,” the grand jury report said. “Some potential witnesses have chosen not to testify, often citing possible professional or personal consequences arising from their involvement with the Statewide Grand Jury process.”
“At times, potential witnesses have raised concerns about the basis of this Body’s justice,” he added.
No federal agency involved in the rollout of the COVID-19 vaccine has been provided the information, a grand jury has found, and the panel said it lacked legal authority to compel the agency to provide information.

“The Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) and the US Army, among others, all have a large role in the contracting, approval and distribution process for the COVID-19 vaccine at our center. investigation,” the report said. “These agencies have chosen not to provide representatives to testify before this body, and federal law prohibits us from coercing their cooperation.”
In December 2022, DeSantis, 45, asked for a statewide grand jury to be empaneled to investigate the manufacturer of the COVID-19 vaccine for potential wrongdoing and violations of state law related to the vaccine rollout.
In the governor’s petition to set up a grand jury, he argued that a Florida Department of Health analysis “found an increase in the relative incidence of heart-related deaths among men aged 18-39 within 28 days of mRNA vaccination.”

The grand jury was sworn in on June 26, 2023, and did not reach a conclusion about the vaccine’s effectiveness in its interim report.
“As of today, our investigation has not been completed,” the report said. “We remain in regular session and our Legal Counsel is actively scheduling future witness appearances.”
“There are still many months and more testimony and evidence to come before our work will be done.”

The report, however, criticized health agencies and the federal government over pandemic-era face covering recommendations, arguing that “regarding masks, we have never had strong evidence of their effectiveness against the transmission of SARS-CoV-2” and that “public health agencies have failed to adequately explain ” mask ineffectiveness to the American people.
The grand jury also found that the curfew “trades the immediate welfare of a smaller, wealthier, well-represented group of older Americans who can afford to stay at home for the long-term welfare of a larger, less affluent, less represented. children, teenagers, twenty, thirty and forty something that cannot.”
“If anything, the result of this is a modest benefit to the former group at the expense of the latter.”
The governor’s office did not respond to The Post’s request for comment.
