Feds caught Kaitlin Armstrong — woman convicted in love triangle murder of bicyclist — by luring her with an ad for yoga teachers: report

Convicted love triangle killer Kaitlin Armstrong was arrested after fleeing the US with her face altered by plastic surgery in a fake ad for a yoga instructor, a new report has revealed.

The Texas woman — who fled to Central America after fatally shooting pro cyclist Anna Moriah Wilson in May 2022 — was reportedly arrested by US Marshals that summer after she responded to an ad placed by the feds for a yoga instructor.

It may be their last hope — marshals have been chasing the fugitive killer across the United States and into Costa Rica, where they believe he’s hiding near the coast, according to CBS News.

But he was very careful, using various new names and even changing the shape of his nose through plastic surgery to throw the authorities off his trail.

So instead, the feds told him to come to them.

And they did it by tapping into his interest in yoga: They placed an ad for a yoga teacher on a local Facebook page in the one-street town of Santa Teresa, Costa Rica.

It didn’t work out at first — Armstrong, now serving 90 years for killing Wilson in a jealous rage over a past relationship with Armstrong’s boyfriend, took nearly a week to bite.

But when the Marshals were about to return to the United States, they got a message from someone who identified themselves as a yoga instructor, CBS said.

“We got a bite, someone who, um, identified himself … as a yoga instructor and said they wanted to meet us at a certain dorm,” Deputy US Marshal Emir Perez told the network. “And we said … ‘This, this is our chance!’”

Perez and his partner, Deputy US Marshal Damien Fernandez, raced to Santa Teresa from San Jose, where they were preparing to return home.

They found him sitting at the table in the dormitory. Perez spoke to her in Spanish as he examined her bandaged nose and swollen lip – leftovers from surgery intended to conceal her identity.

But his eyes were the same as he had seen in the previous picture.

“He got in the car, and he was like, ‘That’s him. He’s right there,'” Fernandez told CBS.

The local police made an arrest, and the feds took him back to Texas. He was charged and held in jail.

Armstrong returned to the United States after being arrested.

He managed to get away again – but didn’t get far before deputies caught him.

It was the first real step in a long march to justice for Wilson, who was found dead on May 11.

A Vermont native and former alpine skier at Dartmouth College in New Hampshire, Wilson is a rising star in pro gravel and mountain bike racing.

He had been in Austin before the race in Texas — and he was among the favorites to win.

Armstrong tracked Wilson to the apartment where he lived through a fitness app, investigators said. Then he shot her three times, twice in the head and once through the heart, according to the charges.

A Jeep matching Armstrong’s was caught on camera outside the house where Wilson’s body lay, and a 43-day international manhunt ensued.

It took a Texas jury just two hours to convict Armstrong and change the day, the judge put him in prison for nine decades.
