The Las Vegas criminal seen in a wild courtroom video punching a judge after launching himself onto the bench is scheduled to appear before him again Monday morning.
Deobra Redden, 30, is scheduled to appear again before Clark County District Court Judge Mary Kay Holthus, 62, to continue her sentencing hearing for the previous baseball bat attack.
The original trial was halted last Wednesday when he “controlled the bench,” according to a description by Jerry Wiese, the court’s chief judge, of the now-viral attack.
Redden had pleaded hard for Holthus not to give him jail time for the April baseball bat attack, telling the judge he was “someone who never stopped trying to do the right thing no matter how hard it was.”
“I’m not a rebel,” he told her. “But if it’s right for you, then you gotta do what you gotta do.”
Holthus denied his request for probation given the three-time felon’s history.

Redden, who was not shackled, was nearly handcuffed when he blurted out profanity, leaped over the defense table, leapt onto the judge’s bench and landed on top of Holthus, knocking him off his chair.
The shocking video showed the judge slumped against a wall and an American flag falling on him and Redden, as people in the courtroom screamed.
The criminal, who Holthus later described as “big, strong and angry,” had to fight the judge by his clerk, Michael Lasso, and several court and prison officials, some of whom threw punches.
Lasso was treated for a cut on his hand and a marshal was hospitalized for a dislocated shoulder and a large gash on his forehead that required 25 stitches.
Holthus’s hair was pulled and his head slammed into the wall. He suffered some injuries and pain that required medical attention, but he returned to work the next day.
“He’s still sore and stiff but thankful it’s not worse,” Wiese said later.
Redden later blamed the attack on having a bad day and said he was trying to kill Holthus, according to court documents seen by KLAS.
“The judge told me,” Redden was quoted as complaining to the officer. “The judge is evil.”
Redden was jailed on $54,000 bail in connection with the court fight but refused to return to court the next day on the new charges. He is now set to face the case Tuesday.

He faces multiple new felony and misdemeanor charges, including extortion, coercion by force and battery on a protected person, referring to judges and officials who rushed to his aid.
Redden’s extensive criminal record includes prior convictions for three felonies and nine misdemeanors, most recently in 2021, In 2021, when he served time in prison for domestic battery.
“He’s been violent his whole life,” District Attorney Steve Wolfson said.
