A Florida mother has been arrested for allegedly leaving her baby and toddler in her SUV so she could go to a bar — leaving it running and unlocked, according to police.
Jamie Leigh Gunn, 33, was picked up Sunday shortly after her 2-year-old son and 8-month-old brother were found asleep in the back seat of her black SUV in the parking lot of Penny Annie’s Bar in West Melbourne, police said.
“The doors of the vehicle were unlocked and the vehicle was running,” West Melbourne police said.
“The doors of the SUV were unlocked and the engine was running,” the department said.
Gunn, the registered owner, was later found inside the bar with a friend, police said.
An investigation revealed she was inside the bar “for at least 20 minutes while ignoring her children who were left unattended,” the department said.
“When Gunn learned law enforcement was outside with his vehicle, he was more concerned with incarceration, than the welfare of his children,” police said.

Her two young children were released to family members, and the Department of Children and Families was notified, police said.
