Florida Representative Cory Mills, an Iraq war veteran, helped rescue 32 Americans trapped in Israel after it was attacked by Hamas terrorists over the weekend, the lawmaker said.
The Republican told Fox News on Wednesday that he was flying to the Jewish state to help bring home US citizens.
Mills, who served with the 82nd Airborne Division while deployed in Iraq, said he could not share further details about the rescue mission or its location due to concerns and operational constraints, the outlet reported.
He told the station that some of the Americans he brought to safety were trapped in an area of the country that now did not have a “permissive environment” to fully escape.
Lawmakers decided to go to Israel themselves after realizing the Biden administration had not announced any plans on the ground to repatriate US citizens.
He did the same with individuals trapped in Afghanistan in 2021 after President Biden decided to withdraw from the country.

“I came in and was very grateful to be able to — for the second time, by the way, I’ll just add — help the Biden administration, which has failed to do their job,” Mills told Fox News.
“[The] The first time I did it was in 2021 where I did the first successful rescue for the American people,” he said. “But here it is, the second time doing the work of the Biden administration because they don’t have a plan.”
He also slammed Biden for not being more prepared for reporters during the fierce fighting between Israel and Hamas in Gaza.

“I think it’s time the American people shut up about the bad administration that continues to fail in their plans and strategies to be able to bring the American people out or take foreign policy into account. [situation] that they actually created that actually led to these types of incidents,” Mills said.
Biden said Americans were likely among those kidnapped by Hamas militants and that 14 US citizens were among the dead.
