Florida street racer driving 80 mph goes airborne after losing control, lands in canal: wild video

A Florida man street racing at 80 mph in a residential area lost control and went airborne before his Dodge Challenger landed in a canal.

The unidentified man had to be rescued from his wrecked car after the wild crash in Cape Coral that was caught on camera and witnessed by shocked neighbors.

The driver was driving the Mercedes at a high rate of speed and tried to stop before hitting a palm tree, which launched it through the air into the Cape Coral canal, witnesses told Click Orlando.

Surveillance footage of the incident shows the car zooming across the yard, bouncing several times before rolling over a tree and diving nose-first into the water, narrowly missing a man who was in his yard.

The car made a big splash before reappearing on the surface. The driver can be seen trying to escape through his window.

Eventually a man on the bank dived in and helped pull the man out of the car, according to Click Orlando.

A few seconds later, the nose of the car was completely submerged under water.

“”I was just nervous,” Lorraine Holder, whose security camera captured the moment, told WESH. “I was scared because after seeing the car completely fly, I was like, ‘OK, now this is something serious.'”
