Speaking in a video from Windsor, Kate revealed how she found out about her diagnosis after undergoing major stomach surgery in January.
He said, “I want to take this opportunity to thank you, personally, for all the wonderful messages of support and for your understanding while I’ve been recovering from surgery. It’s been a very difficult few months for our whole family, but I have a team wonderful medicine that has taken such good care of me, for which I am very grateful.”
The princess continued, “In January, I underwent major abdominal surgery in London and at the time, it was thought that my condition was not cancer. The surgery was successful. However, post-surgery tests revealed cancer was present. Therefore, my medical team advised me to undergo a course of preventive chemotherapy, and I am now in the early stages of that treatment.”

In her video, she added that the news shocked her and William and emphasized how difficult it was to explain the situation to her children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

He continued, “As you can imagine, this took time. I have taken time to recover from major surgery to begin my treatment. But, most importantly, we took time to explain everything to George, Charlotte, and Louis with the right way for them and to reassure them that I will be fine.”
“Like I told them, I’m healthy and getting stronger every day by focusing on things that will help me heal; in my mind, body and spirit,” added Kate.

He stated, “We hope you will understand that, as a family, we now need some time, space and privacy while I complete my treatment. My work has always brought me a deep sense of joy, and I look forward to returning when I am able, but for now, I must focus on a full recovery.
Concluding, he said, “At this time, I also think of all those whose lives have been affected by cancer. For everyone who is facing this disease, in whatever form, please don’t lose faith or hope. You are not alone.”
