The Foo Fighters have released their first song and announced their first album following the death of drummer Taylor Hawkins.

The band’s 11th album – and the first since the death of beloved drummer Taylor Hawkins – will be released on June 2, so fans won’t have to wait long to hear new music from the band. The new album, titled “But Here We Are” will share ten songs that focus on the emotions surrounding the death of not only Hawkins but lead singer Dave Grohl’s mother, Virginia Grohl.
The band described the album as “a very honest and emotional response to everything the Foo Fighters have been through over the last year” in a press release (via Entertainment Weekly), adding that the new songs will “run the emotional gamut from anger and sadness to calmness and acceptance, and many eyes in between.”
The group also released the first track on the LP, “Rescued,” on Wednesday. The single contains lyrics such as “It comes in a flash / It comes out of nowhere / It happens so fast / And then it’s over” and has been compared to songs such as 2005’s “In Your Honor” and 2011’s “Walk”.
The Foo Fighters declined to say whether or not the works left by the late Hawkins were used to create any new music.
