Motherhood couldn’t be more perfect for American TV presenter Maria Menounos, and she is extremely grateful for every moment spent with her daughter Athena.
Menounos, who was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and diabetes, welcomed the child with her husband of six years, Kevin Undergaro, two months ago via surrogacy.
Even with his medical issues, having Athena was everything the 45-year-old had hoped for, and he didn’t hesitate to express his gratitude on social media to God, the saints and his fans.

The “Extra” host continued, “Thank you all for your love. I look back on the last 6 years—it’s pretty crazy.” Elaborating on what he means by “crazy,” he revealed that he and his mother had brain tumors, prompting them to undergo surgery.
However, after two surgeries, her parents were hospitalized with COVID, which resulted in her mother’s death. Unfortunately, Menounos was later diagnosed with “type one diabetes, then a Neuroendocrine tumor on my pancreas,” which he suffered along with “a few other crazy things in between.”
She explained that her husband believes she needs to “sit down and acknowledge” everything that has happened in her life, leading her to share a thank you post.
In conclusion, the former “E! Newscaster” expressed appreciation, writing, “Now that list makes me so grateful to be alive and thriving. To be here to enjoy this beautiful little girl. Thank God! Thank you st Nectarios and Panagia. I pray all that is behind us and only great days lie ahead!”
Attached to the heartfelt note is a photo of Menounos carrying a sleeping Athena leaning against the camera. The overjoyed mother wore a gray T-shirt with “Mom” written across the chest while her son wore a yellow and white patterned onesie.
Many fans were blown away by the “Today” star’s honesty as they took to the comments to shower her with praise. The comment read, “You are a warrior!!! You kill the game of life ??” followed by another: “Your strength and perseverance is everything ❤️.”
Another commenter declared, “Congratulations ? on this wonderful motherhood and journey ♥ ️” while another declared, “What a lucky little angel to have you and Kevin as parents!! More excited for you both. ❤️❤️❤️.”

Keep smiling, Maria??.”
Less than a month after Athena’s birth, Menounos and her partner talked about how they felt holding their child for the first time. She described it as the “most special moment” of her life and recalled how she and Undergaro kept looking at each other, feeling only “pure joy.”
The WWE ambassador went on to reveal that after his first replacement failed, he was disappointed but had the support of the best people in his life, including Kim Kardashian. Commenting further on her joy in raising her daughter, she confessed, “Athena is our miracle baby – I am so grateful to her.”
AfterBuz TV’s CEO Expected Two Babies But Got Only One
Earlier this year, after Menounos announced she and her husband were expecting a single child, she shared her belief that they would have twins. On his podcast “Heal Squad,” he explained that he implanted two embryos, sparking their expectation of two babies.
The brilliant reporter was confident it would work, but unfortunately it didn’t, as she and Undergaro eventually found out via Zoom that they were only expecting a baby.
Menounos recalled a surrogate updating the couple that “the baby” was great, making them realize they would only have one child, given that he used the singular word.
