Food Network star and celebrity chef Michael Chiarello’s coroner’s report revealed he had cocaine in his system at the time of his death.
According to the coroner’s report obtained by The Blast, Chiarello recently used the narcotic drug before being rushed to the hospital in early October.
As we reported, the celebrity chef died at Queen of the Valley Medical Center in Napa, where he was receiving treatment for an “acute allergic reaction.”
The official report confirmed the family’s suspicions, saying he died of “exposure to an agent of unknown etiology leading to anaphylactic shock.”
But, legal documents reveal a host of other issues that contributed to the ‘Food Network’ star’s death.

The report revealed Chiarello suffered a heart attack during the episode, but was saved by bystanders at the scene. As a result of the attack, Michael unfortunately suffered from “hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy” which is the medical term for lack of oxygen and blood flow to the brain.
Investigators said other important factors found included cocaine in his system and recent cocaine use, but ultimately the drug did not cause his death.
In addition, he suffered from hypertension, heart disease, obesity, sleep apnea, and hypothyroidism.
