It looks like Lizzo may have just added fuel to the fire with a statement posted to Instagram on Thursday morning.
Three of his former backup dancers made troubling allegations of weight gain and claims that he forced them to perform inappropriate acts that made them uncomfortable at an adult entertainment facility in Amsterdam.
After Lizzo called the accusations against her “unbelievable” and “fun,” her former backup dancer hit back, claiming that the “Truth Hurts” singer has a “lack of empathy” for their situation.

The three backup dancers suing Lizzo – Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams, and Noelle Rodriguez – spoke out Thursday following Lizzo’s statement earlier that morning. While Lizzo called the sexual harassment allegations “heartbreaking”, the dancers slammed her “lack of empathy” regarding the incident.
“Lizzo has failed her own brand and has failed her fans,” Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams, and Noelle Rodriguez said in a statement to Page Six through their attorney Ron Zambrano. “His denial of this reprehensible behavior only adds to the emotional stress on our clients.”

They went on to say that the Grammy winner’s “disappointing comments” about their situation showed a “lack of empathy” and were “somewhat telling of her character.” They went on to say that they “only serve to minimize the trauma he has caused the plaintiff and other employees who have now come forward to share their own negative experiences.”
“Although Lizzo stated it was never her intention to make anyone feel uncomfortable,’ that’s what she did to the point of demoralizing her dancers and blatantly breaking the law,” they concluded.

On Thursday morning, the 35-year-old singer said that the last few days “have been very difficult and very frustrating,” adding that his “work ethic, morals and respect have all been questioned.” He wrote, “Normally I choose not to respond to false allegations, but this is as unbelievable as it sounds and too outrageous not to address.”
“This is a sensational story from a former employee who has publicly admitted that they were told their behavior on tour was inappropriate and unprofessional,” he continued, saying that he was passionate about his work and had “high standards” for himself and his performers.
“Sometimes I have to make difficult decisions but I never intend to make anyone feel uncomfortable or like they are not valued as an important part of the team,” he wrote, adding, “I am not here to be seen as a victim, but I am also know that I am not the villain that people and the media have been portraying me as these past few days.”

Lizzo went on to say, “I’m very open with my sexuality and express myself but I can’t accept or allow people to use that openness to make me something I’m not. There is nothing I take more seriously than the respect we deserve as women in the world.”
“I know what it’s like to be body-shamed every day and would never criticize or fire an employee because of their weight,” she continued, adding, “I’m hurt but I’m not going to let the good work I’ve done in the world be overshadowed by this. I would like to thank everyone who has reached out to lift me up during this difficult time.”

He left the comments section, prompting fans to take sides. One user who seems to strongly support Lizzy is Kahanna Montrese, who may be familiar to fans of “RuPaul’s Drag Race.” Kahanna supported Lizzo in the comments, writing, “As someone who has actually worked with you and your crew. I can say Lizzo has created one of the most exciting, fun, diverse and supportive shows I’ve ever been a part of.”
“Every dancer, Stage crew and manager is excited to be a part of the show because the honesty starts with Lizzo. He is so encouraging to every dancer and guest he has,” continued Kahanna. “She really made me feel very special to be a part of her team and we have all kinds of queens. From different sizes to different cultural backgrounds and each one of us felt loved and supported being on tour with him. Please don’t let this define you Lizzo. I will never forget how special you made us all feel working with you.”
