Matt Barnes turned the tables on a restraining order filed by his ex-husband, by filing it himself.

The former basketball player claimed that her fiancee, ex-husband Anansa Sims had threatened to harm her. In court documents obtained by The Blast, Barnes said, “Following repeated violent threats, including threatening to shoot me with a “Glock” (a type of firearm) and a recent physical confrontation at an NFL playoff game, I am seeking a civilian . a restraining order against David B. Patterson, Jr. David is the ex-husband of my current fiancé.”
Barnes shared that she fears for herself, Sims, and the blended family they created together that includes David’s three children with Sims. Barnes went on to share that her fiancé also has a restraining order against David.
“About two months ago, after the trial, my fiance was granted a three-year restraining order against David for his protection and the protection of their three young children.”

The former football player allegedly threatened to shoot Barnes and the athlete caught it all on video. “David’s threat to shoot me was recorded on video and presented as evidence at the restraining order hearing against him. David also admitted in open Court during his testimony that he made these violent threats to me. I believe David was jealous of my relationship with his ex-wife, angry about the state of her care, and targeting me for harassment as a result.”
David is also alleged to have verbally threatened Matt as well. “In addition to making violent death threats to me, over the past few months David has been harassing me through numerous text messages and direct messages on social media. “David has also used people close to me as conduits for his harassment, including having his fiancee, Melisa Andino, file a false application for a civil harassment restraining order against me only to have the petition voluntarily dismissed at a hearing. David has also used local law enforcement as a way to harass me, by calling the police.”
The disturbance is said to have occurred “many times, where the police left without further action.” It is said to have happened “five times this month alone.”

Barnes made it clear that all he wants from this legal action taken against David is, “protection from the Court because David’s harassment has escalated from threats and harassing messages to physical confrontations.”
She details an incident where David physically assaulted her. “David and I live in the Los Angeles area. On Sunday, January 22, 2023, I traveled from Los Angeles, CA to Santa Clara, CA (approximately 350 miles) to attend the San Francisco 49ers NFL playoff game with a friend,” Matt recalled.
Fans will remember last year’s video of a Barnes fan seen in the game crowd looking upset. He now explains the events that led to the video and the restraining order.
“As we walked to our seats in the packed 70,000 capacity Levi’s Stadium, David hunted me down and aggressively confronted me. As he approached me, he acted erratically, yelling obscenities at me, calling me names, and driving the already excited crowd around him into a frenzy by yelling my full name over and over again.”
Matt continued. “I believe David deliberately sought me out in a large and crowded stadium to disturb me. I was concerned and disturbed by how David knew where to find me.” Matt just wants to live in peace and he hopes this restraining order will help him do that.
