Wednesday night comedian Chris Redd was devastated after a stranger attacked him just before his show. The former “Saturday Night Live” star spent time at Bellevue Hospital in New York after suffering multiple facial injuries from the attack.
The actor who waved goodbye to “SNL” earlier this year plans to perform in Greenwich Village at the Comedy Celler. However, he had to cancel his performance to seek treatment after the unexpected attack.
News of the incident comes after Redd announced his new relationship with former “SNL” co-star Cristina Evangeline last month. The model is currently in the process of divorcing her husband, Kenan Thompson, after 11 years of marriage. As Redd recovers, he is set to release a comedy special in November and continues to perform.

As reported by the NYC police department, the 37-year-old man was getting out of his car at 9:40 pm when an unknown person approached him and punched him in the face without provocation. The blow left a deep cut on Redd’s nose, and a nearby witness took him to the hospital.
The attacker also tried to grab his chain from around his neck, but it was scattered on the ground before Redd could get it. follow TMZ, the star is now recovering and has already left the hospital. However, the story is not over yet, as the police are still investigating the incident.
Although they have not made any arrests, they plan to investigate the identity of the attacker and the motive behind his actions.

Currently, all the New York police department knows about the attacker is that he was wearing a security guard’s uniform when he hit Redd outside the comedy club. The police were patrolling the area when the incident happened and immediately ran to the scene. However, the attackers took off before they reached Redd.
TMZ shared a video following the attack showing passersby helping the actor up. The clip also shows blood on the road and Redd’s face. Witnesses to the event also confirmed that there were drops of the comedian’s blood on the stairs leading to the comedy club.
Police also took several photographs of Redd’s injuries to aid their investigation into the incident. The star’s injury required him to spend time in the hospital, which meant he
had to cancel his performance and take a leave of absence.

The “Bust Down” actress who had planned to appear in Greenwich Village for the show put her health first and canceled a scheduled performance after the attack. Although he has yet to reveal a new date for the show, he plans to release a new comedy special titled “Why Am I Like This?” on November 3rd.
The hour-long stand-up special will air on HBO Max and show viewers some of the “crucial parts of his life that made him who he is today,” according to the company’s press release. He’ll also talk about how he feels like he’s “living someone else’s dream” in an upcoming special.
In a recent Instagram post, she wrote of her special, “14 years of hustle… lots of gigs. Years of running around doing crap …and *almost* scandal-free all leading up to this!!” While neither Redd nor his team have commented on the attack, it comes on the heels of news that he is now dating his former SNL co-star, Evangeline.
