The man accused of stabbing his girlfriend to death before dumping her body at a Boston airport before boarding a flight out of the country was arrested at a nightclub in Kenya, Massachusetts state police announced Tuesday.
Kevin Kangethe, 41, was busted by the country’s authorities Monday — three months after police found the body of Margaret “Maggie” Mbitu, who was allegedly found abandoned in a garage at Logan airport.
Mbitu’s family reported him missing on October 30, two days before officers made the gruesome discovery in the Central car park.
The 31-year-old nurse was found with large gashes to her face and neck, as well as other puncture wounds to her side, with officials saying she showed “obvious signs of death.”
The car, registered to Kangethe, was covered in blood, police said. Police quickly determined Kangethe was the suspect, but he had already left the country for Kenya.

Police have not released a motive for the brutal murder, but Mbitu’s family claims he had planned to end their long-standing relationship.
“We are very happy with the news of the arrest of the suspect in Maggie’s murder. The long arm of the law is finally catching up with the suspect in Maggie’s murder,” Mbitu’s family told Boston 25 News in a statement.
“We are confident that the truth will prevail and that justice for Maggie will be served.”
A tipoff led federal and Kenyan authorities to the alleged killer Monday at a nightclub in Nairobi, the East African nation’s capital.

Massachusetts State Police had been following Kangethe for weeks, according to spokesman David Procopio, who described the arrest as a “joint effort that spanned oceans and continents.”
“We have been monitoring it while the international coordination of arrest warrants and arrest plans are being prepared,” Procopio said. “The next step is the extradition process, but there is no timetable on that yet.”
Kangethe is expected to stand trial in Kenya before being brought to Massachusetts on murder charges.
