The tragic death of Gabby Petito still captures the attention of the world.
Her family recently commemorated Gabby on the anniversary of her death and the discovery of her body.
Gabby was a victim of domestic violence and was killed by her fiance, Brian Laundrie.
Gabby Petito’s New Documentary Is In The Works

Since her untimely death, her family has established the Gabby Petito Foundation to help raise money and resources for organizations and victims of domestic violence.
Next month, Investigation Discover (ID) will release a brand new documentary with what it calls “never-before-seen footage” of Gabby and Brian.
On Tuesday, September 27, the cable network announced “The Murder of Gabby Petito: What Really Happened” will premiere on October 12 and air on Discovery+.
Last year, two documentaries about Gabby’s death were released.
ID Documentary Will Show Never-Before-Shown Footage
“Gabby Petito: ID Special Report” was released in October on ID and “The Murder of Gabby Petito: Truth, Lies and Social Media” aired on Peacock in December.
The Lifetime TV Network will release “The Gabby Petito Story” on October 1.
The film will kick off Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
“The Gabby Petito Story” will star Skylar Samuels as Gabby and Evan Hall as Brian.
Samuels is best known for her roles in “Scream Queens,” “Nine Lives Of Chloe King” and “Switched Before Birth.”
Hall has a recurring role on Netflix’s “Orange Is The New Black” and a series regular on Nat Geo’s “Mars.”
In a statement shared to Fox News Digital“The film will bring Gabby and Brian’s cursed love story to life, including the warning signs that Gabby’s life is in danger, the subsequent search for her, the eventual discovery of her murder and, ultimately, Brian’s suicide.”
Lifetime Movie Will Honor Gabby’s Lives & Victims of Domestic Violence
The film will be directed by Emmy-Award winning actress Thora Birch, known for her roles in “The Walking Dead” and “American Beauty.” Birch will also star as Nichole Schmidt, Gabby’s mother, in the film.
“The Gabby Petito” story is part of Lifetime’s public affairs initiative called “Stop Violence Against Women.”
After the premiere of the Lifetime movie, a documentary titled, “Beyond The Headlines: Gabby Petito” will air. The documentary will take a closer look at her complicated relationship with Brian and the cross-country journey that led to his murder.

Since their daughter’s murder, the Petito-Schmidt family has filed several lawsuits against Brian’s family. They also filed a $50 million lawsuit against the Utah Police who pulled Brian and Gabby over after a domestic violence dispute was called.
You may recall that Brian and Gabby were stopped by police in Moab, Utah after a citizen called in a domestic violence dispute.

Petito-Schmidt’s family filed a lawsuit against the Moab City Police Department, then-Chief Bret Edge, former Assistant Chief Braydon Palmer, and Officers Eric Pratt and Daniel Robbins, according to NBC News.
While Gabby is in the back of the police car, she explains that she was the first to hit her fiance and he responded by grabbing her face.
The call resulted in no arrests even though Utah state law mandates an arrest or citation in domestic violence incidents.
Neither Gabby nor Brian wanted to press charges, but they were required to spend the night after the argument.
Weeks after the traffic stop, Gabby’s body was found in the Bridger-Teton National Forest in Wyoming.
