Gabrielle Union & Dwyane Wade continue to be their trans daughter Zaya’s biggest fans as they celebrate her milestone birthday with the sweetest photos!
The power couple, who recently moved their family out of Florida due to the state’s anti-LGBTQ+ policy, didn’t spare their fans when they posted photos highlighting some of the milestones in Zaya’s life over the past year. In addition to some family photos, investor Yumi and her beau shared a look from their baby girl’s first appearance for Miu Miu during this year’s Paris Fashion Week.

While it’s no longer news that Union is far ahead of being a regular mom, the actress has cemented her “cool mom” status by posting photos of her celebrating Zaya’s 16th birthday. Taking to Instagram on Monday, the mother-of-one shared a few slides of some of her fondest memories with the up-and-coming model, starting with a racy picture of them hugging and smiling.
In the image, the “Bring It On” star wears a long white coat while her stepson rocks a black long-sleeved shirt and matching mini skirt. For the next slide, Zaya stunned as she walked between her famous parents, wearing another all-black outfit that proved her fashion skills.
Scroll through the rest of the slides featuring a mother-daughter pair posing for a mirror selfie, a group shot of Zaya and her parents wearing matching Matrix-inspired outfits, and a clip of Union and Zaya laughing while standing on a boardwalk overlooking the ocean. Another video highlights the straight-faced 16-year-old walking out of the room to his proud parents cheering loudly.
“Love the support you gave him,” commented one person under the Instagram post with the caption “16 ?”. Another fan said of the celebration, “Just getting prettier and more graceful as she grows up.”
Although Wade’s “Let’s go!” comment earned him nearly 1.5k likes, the retired NBA star followed up with a carousel of happy moments with his beloved baby girl on his feed. Like his wife, the father of five started with a rough picture of him and Zaya, showing off his big smile as he pulled his daughter close.
The celeb wears a flowy orange dress and black hairdo in the next slide before she dons a white shirt and nude jacket for a moment with her dad in the third picture. Other drops are reminiscent of Zaya’s unusual style, with one showing her in a white dress with tiny straps and extra mesh sleeves and another in a cropped long-sleeved jean jacket, plaid bottoms and dark sunglasses.
Wade ended the slideshow with a pre-transition video of his daughter wearing the costume and doing the signature handshake. She captioned the photo “6Teen ??”, getting over 292k people to double-tap it and thousands more to comment.

The last time the former Miami Heat player got this much traction on an Instagram post was in March when he paid tribute to Zaya during her runway debut. According to The Blast, she uploaded a reel of the teenager dominating the Paris Fashion Week runways in an olive green two-piece featuring a sweater dress and an oversized jacket.
The dress was perfectly paired with a caramel colored Miu Miu purse, dangling charms and a black strap. The view was liked over 95k times and almost 4k comments.

In the words of the influencer:
“The lesson has changed over time, but recently, the beauty is in you. It’s about being you and expressing yourself the way you want to. She tried to teach me that beauty standards are arbitrary and they mean nothing.”
Zaya discusses what has been gathered about standards and self-acceptance, stating, “They don’t matter anymore; what people think of as the standard is not. And just being myself is the best technique out there.”
She also touched on her family’s acceptance of her transition and journey as a transgender, explaining that since their “understanding of acceptance” has deepened in recent years, they continue to keep themselves “educated” while fighting “ignorance”.
