Garcelle Beauvais is now embroiled in a federal lawsuit after posting photos she didn’t get permission for and didn’t credit.

The actor looks like a thief after being slapped with this suit. Photographer John Carta claims that some photos of Beauvais he took in New York in May 2022 appeared on his Facebook timeline, and he was unaware.
Carta makes bread and butter from his pictures by selling them to several outlets. Beauvais’ image is captioned “Garcelle Beauvais stands with her arms outstretched on the streets of NYC carrying a handbag while wearing denim shorts and a black satin-like blouse.”
The The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star uses the picture even though Carta owns the rights; he did not ask for permission and did not pay for their use.

In a lawsuit obtained by Online Radar, Chart claims. “[Garcelle]without permission or authorization from [John]actively copied and displayed [John’s] images on the Account and engaged in this misconduct knowingly and in violation of United States copyright laws.”
The self-employed photographer claims he continues to work hard to create his photos. “subject matter, timing, lighting, angle, perspective, depth, lens and camera equipment used to capture the image.”
He revealed that he had planned to sell the image, and Beauvais posted it on his Facebook page for free. He claims he used the photo to promote himself and his brand, leaving her with… nothing.
Garcelle Beauvais Uses Images More Than Once

The lawsuit shared that Beauvais made extensive use of the photographs. “Accounts are monetized because they contain endorsements and promotions [Garcelle’s] celebrity profiles, and based on information and beliefs, [Garcelle] profit from this activity.”
Chart also notes that Beauvais used the photograph in a collage in May. “Without permission or permission from the Plaintiff, [Garcelle] copied and displayed voluntarily [John’s] Copyrighted photos on Account.”
He says that Beauvais willingly violated his copyright and believes that his photos played a role in driving traffic to his account. He did not disclose the amount he is seeking in damages, and he wants to prohibit Beauvais from improperly publishing his work without paying.
