The head of a Gaza hospital has claimed to be a senior Hamas commander — and detailed how the terror group turned the medical site into an operations hub that once housed kidnapped Israeli soldiers.
Ahmad Kahlot, director of Kamal Adwan Hospital in Jabaliya, made a recorded confession to Israel’s Shin Bet security service after his arrest during last week’s raid on the facility in northern Gaza.
In his interrogation video released on X on TuesdayKahlot, dressed in an Israeli prison uniform and sitting in front of an Israeli flag, said he joined Hamas in 2010 and held the equivalent rank of brigadier general.
Kahlot revealed that about 16 hospital staff, including doctors, nurses, paramedics and clerks, were also members of Hamas’ notorious military wing, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades.
According to the head of the hospital, the medical facility under his care has been turned into an elaborate military hub where up to 100 Hamas terrorists have been hiding for days before moving to other locations.

Some of the group’s leaders also have offices with private phone lines inside the hospital, Kahlot said.
“There are designated areas for interrogation, internal security and special security,” he revealed.
Asked by Shin Bet investigators why the top Hamas leader chose the hospital as his gateway, Kahlot said, “Because from their perspective, the hospital is a safe place. They will not be harmed in the hospital.”
Kahlot also revealed that Hamas once took a kidnapped Israeli soldier to the hospital and used its own private ambulance service to transport the body of a hostage tied to the massacre on October 7. He did not name the soldier or say what happened to him later.

But the Hamas leader had some choice words for other leaders of his terror organization – blasting them as “cowards.
“They left us in the open while they hid,” he said. “It is the people who are faltering.

“They sacrificed us, unfortunately,” added the director of the hospital with the frustrated tone of another boss.
Israeli forces breached the Kamal Adwan Hospital on December 12. In the following days, the army arrested about 90 suspected Hamas terrorists inside the medical facility and seized a cache of weapons, as seen in a viral video.
A World Health Organization official said on Monday that the hospital was no longer functioning and that all its patients had been evacuated.
Israel has long maintained that Hamas uses hospitals throughout Gaza as its secret military bases.
