Ghislaine Maxwell is staying fit while in prison in Florida. The former socialite was seen jogging in a recently released photo, which sources close to the situation explained was her taking part in a prison half-marathon.
It comes nearly a year after Maxwell complained about inhumane federal prison conditions.
How Ghislaine Maxwell Is Busy In Prison
Maxwell was captured on the track wearing gray sweats at the federal prison where he is serving a 20-year sentence for sex trafficking.

According to reports, the race at the Tallahassee Federal Correctional Institution, which is surrounded by barbed wire, involved 19 inmates running 52 laps around the prison track to complete 13.1 miles.
While there is no word on Maxwell’s finish time or if he landed on top, his lawyer, Arthur Aidala, mentioned that the prison organized the event because “One of the warden’s jobs is to make it livable.” In addition to running, she noted that Maxwell is also practicing yoga and Pilates in prison as he prepares for his appeal on March 12.

The defense attorney also noted, “He looks great, he really does,” adding that his clients who have been in prison for a long time usually gain “a lot of weight” because the main nutrient behind bars is carbohydrates.
Despite his exercise routine, life in prison for Maxwell is far from comfortable in a low-security correctional facility. Regarding that, Aidala shared, “Even as a visitor, going to prison is scary.”
“It’s very different from going to Rikers Island or the Brooklyn House of Detention… it’s isolated, there’s barbed wire everywhere you can see. It’s very quiet, and you know you’re not going to leave,” legal experts said of the prison.
Amid the situation, Maxwell, who gained notoriety after being convicted in 2021 of recruiting and grooming young women for sexual assault by Jeffrey Epstein, is seeking to be released from prison.
For that, he met with Aidala for six hours to discuss his appeal. According to reports, the 62-year-old came to the meeting carrying a pile of paperwork “two and a half feet high.” Seeing Maxwell with the papers led Aidala to conclude, “He knows the case inside and out… He knows all the transcripts, the motions… He’s focused on the appeal.”

Apart from preparing for his appeal in March, which he will miss, Maxwell has also been helping disadvantaged women in prison. According to Aidala, the British national, who is fluent in at least four languages, has taken on the role of interpreter for “many women in [the prison]” because they “only speak Spanish.”
As lawyers claim to Page Six, the Balliol College alum helps other inmates understand and read their court documents.
Maxwell has previously complained about living conditions during his trial
In March 2023, Maxwell opened up about his experience in prison during his trial, describing it as “inhumane.” A convicted sex offender told his attorney that he was under a lot of pressure during his trial in Brooklyn while living in a detention center there.
The situation is said to have affected his mental health and judgment during the trial, causing him and Aidala to outline some of his complaints. They said he had been kept in a cell in poor conditions, suffered from sleep deprivation during the trial, and allegedly had difficulty accessing his lawyer properly.
Court documents allege that Maxwell was reportedly malnourished while in Brooklyn, allegedly suffering from malnutrition. He also had to endure “living with fleas in his cell,” in addition to the overall poor condition of the facility.
The paper further explains how the situation affected Maxwell during his trial week in Brooklyn. His lawyer revealed, “At the time of the trial, he was so confused and diminished that he was unable to assist in his own defense, much less to testify.”

The daughter of British media owner Robert Maxwell initially complained about her time at the FCI in January 2023, claiming she was “treated so badly during her imprisonment that it violated so many of her constitutional rights to defend herself.”
