Giannis Antetokounmpo Has Played For The Bucks Since He Was Drafted In 2013
Born and raised in Athens to Nigerian immigrants, the NBA star started playing basketball for the youth team before playing for the senior team in 2011. He entered the NBA draft in 2013 where he was selected 15th overall by the Bucks. He has played there ever since and helped the Bucks to a championship in 2021 for the first time since 1971. He was named the Finals MVP and was honored as one of the league’s all-time greats named to the NBA’s 75th Anniversary Team.
Earlier this year, Disney+ released a movie based on the family’s life and their rise to fame called “Rise.” WhatsApp also released a short film based on his life called, “Naija Odyssey.” The film is only 12 minutes long but focuses on Antetokounmpo’s life.
Antetokounmpo is the father of two sons, Liam, 2, and Maverick, 1, with girlfriend Mariah Riddlesprigger. The couple does a lot of charity work and recently partnered with the Milwaukee Diaper Mission to help raise funds to expand the mission’s programming.
