71-year-old Gerry Turner will be the new lead in the spin-off series, “The Golden Bachelor”.

Ahead of its premiere, Turner sat down with the “Bachelor Happy Hour” podcast to reveal what she looks for in a partner.
Gerry Turner Talks Dating

The 71-year-old from Indiana spoke to the podcast before the premiere of “The Golden Bachelor” to talk about what he looks for in a partner.
“I want someone who goes their own way, is fit. If they’re tall or short — that kind of thing doesn’t matter,” Turner said on the “Bachelor Happy Hour” podcast. “Are they getting the most out of their physical attributes? Do they push themselves, do they refuse to give up?”
Fans are eager to see how the dates on “The Golden Bachelor” compare to “The Bachelor” or “The Bachelorette.” When it comes to dates, Turner has a few ideas in mind.
“I want the date to include some activities, so I know we can be involved together,” she said. “It would be great if it was an activity where I would know how well we can work together as a unit. Pickled dates or a golf date would be great. I think that kind of reveals people’s character.”
“I’m kind of thinking about an early date, where we can talk about priorities, we can talk about whether the person is interested in marriage or not,” she added. “There are a lot of women my age who look at marriage and say you know, it’s kind of complicated, do we have to get married to commit to each other? And it’s an interesting thought.”

The 71-year-old married his high school sweetheart in 1974 and has two daughters together. Unfortunately, in 2017, Toni passed away after falling ill. Six years after his death, Turner says he’s ready to put himself back out there.
When asked what his late wife thought of him being “The Golden Bachelor”, the 71-year-old said he thought she would be happy for him.
“I think he’s probably seen me fail in some relationship and dating attempts, and I think he’s going to be OK with this,” Turner said on the podcast. “It’s positive, it’s energetic, it’s a way to communicate and find connection with some people, but especially one special person.”

The 71-year-old said he was looking forward to a new chapter in his life, telling the podcast, “I want to enjoy every moment. I want to be able to make mental notes or write in a log book at night some important things of the day, and remember those moments. And if I can do it, it will be a lot of fun.
